i don't know why you are all saying he had a mediocre career when he has sold millions of records, had #1 singles (in the uk anyway) and has won grammys for his work, i think he won song of the year for "kiss from a rose" [Edited 1/19/06 6:09am] | |

Seal is an incredible artist. I'd put "Kiss From A Rose" up against "Adore" any day. Dude is bbaadd! He has one of the best voices in the industry in my opinion. | |

If you haven't had a chance to listen to / watch the Seal Live In Paris CD/DVD, pick it up - I had become disillusioned with a lot of live CDs recently, and wasn't expecting much from this, but it is magnificent, both in terms of the performance and the sound quality (not to mention the filming, which is so professionally done compared to Prince's).
The definitive non-album work to track down is the Acoustic EP, though - now available on iTunes, although it's a complete version of the Violet Acoustic EP released back in 1992 on cassette and CD - track it down. Raw, stripped down versions of 6 tracks from the first album - the acoustic version of Deep Water is one of my all-time favorite tracks by anyone. And find the Killer... On The Loose EP, from the same time in 1992. Re-recorded, 'live' (studio-recorded, so live as in all-in-one-take) versions of Killer, Whirlpool (electric, very different than the acoustic EP version), Hendrix's Hey Joe, and a new track, again one of my all-time favorites, Come See What Love Has Done. | |
