i dunno about GF, but i ordered mine last week. drool

i recently saw that the individual albums are coming out next month...if i'd have known that, i probably wouldn't have ordered the brick...but really, i'm glad i did. i would have eventually wanted them all anyway.

Nope. Neither. I don't even really know what they're like. What do you recommend?

Haven't yet. I've been too lazy to look around on the internet for a price I can afford right now. And the not-so-Best-Buy price of 150 bones has kept me away so far. I hope to get it soon though and replace my old ones.

They are both Robert Smith faves which is why I mentioned them. Cranes even opened for The Cure on the Wish tour. Both are from the early 90s and have that etheriel, slightly shoegazer sound or used to anyway. Both are still around today, but I think their best albums were earlier in their career.

Curve recommendations:

You can start with their double-disc best of 'The Way Of Curve' sampler or just go for their best studio records:

Doppelgänger (1992)

Cuckoo (1993)

Now that I think about, their sound hasn't changed that much over the years so chances are if you like one album you may like them all.

I can see why Bob likes 'em, just for their names alone. I will definitely check these out. nod

Cranes recommendations:

The EP Collection 2CD best of. Includes all of their singles to that date and most b-sides.

Wings Of Joy (1991) Their first full-length album - experimental and spooky. Alison Shaw's weird little girl voice gives me chills. I love it.

Forever (1993) Their second album has a much fuller sound and is more polished. Robert Smith remixed the single "Jewel" which was much better than the album version.

Loved (1994) Their third and probably most accessible album.

Their later albums are more subtle and quiet. Very different from the earlier stuff.

I'm all about a good comp. I think I'll start with the 2 2-disc Collections you mentioned and go from there.

Maybe losing everything off my iPod was a good thing - I can start fresh for the new year!

Smith was playing his A-Z tape in Nassau Coliseum (the Wish tour) before the band went onstage and his 'C' was Curve's "Coast Is Clear".

Sosgemini said he wanted to kill me for recommending Nellie Mckay to him so that's why I'm second guessing myself. At least there is a Cure connection here. There are no links between Nellie and W&L so that's probably why that one bombed.
