John Frusicante - Guitarist for Red Hot Chili Peppers

I've always dug JF's work with the Chili Peppers and I knew he's released alot of solo CDs so after hearing he released 6 albums in 6 months in 2004 I thought I'd check some of them out.
He's got some good stuff. Interesting stuff to say the least.
Shadows Collide with People is my fave at the minute. It's his most accessable.
Anybody hip? That's why I started a thread on him. I think he deserves one.

Depends on what your in the mood for.
His most "pop" oriented effort is Shadows Collide with People. It's the most produced and the most polished. As I said on other post it's his most accessable.
His other stuff goes in varying degrees of being polished and produced. He has albums that are acoustic, raw, expiremntal, song-oriented, prog, like I said it depends on your mood. His vocals sometimes aren't the greatest so there is that aspect. All the stuff released in 2004/2005 that I've heard is quite good.
Check his website out(johnfrusciante.com) I think he has stuff you can hear so you can get an idea. There are "other" ways to preview as well. Like I said check out
Shadows Collide with People first and go from there.

Keep in mind most of everything I've heard is singer/songwriter oriented and not stuff centered around his guitar playing abilities. It's more like how he uses guitar tones and chord progressions and effects to make things interesting as opposed to just guitar heroics.

Huge Frusciante here... If you were going to check out just one of the solo releases from last year, grab "Inside of Emptiness".

It was quite a respectable run of releases, 6 cds in about 8 months or so. Unlike certain unnamed artists who claim to have the desire to do such a thing yet never do!

But that's for another thread!

"Inside of Emptiness", go now!!

cool
No Sonny T?
No Michael B?

So right.
Like I said before, JF deserves a thread.

JF is the man. He's more than just a great guitarist. His solo stuff is great and personal. I was blown away when I received his invite on "My Space". He's a cat that I've admired for a long time.

That's very cool.
Glad to see some JF supporters around here. He is a TRUE artist in every sense of the word. After his massive release of solo CDs in 2004/2005 and his growth as an artist, it will be interesting to hear what he brings to the new Chlil Peppers album due out very soon.
BTW, I had a feeling "SPYZ" you would post considering you usually post when it concearns artists of any true relevance.
wink

Let me add it's nice to see anyone who post here because my comment about "SPYZ" goes out to all who post here. It's obvious you all have done your homework or just like and respect real artists. Nice to see that.

I love his stuff with the peppers especially mother's and blood sugar.

Bought the 2nd solo album when he was all drugged up and couldn't dig it.

I was interested in the 6 albums post heroin.... bought inside of emptiness, it had moments but it's not a first time "get it" record... I stuck with it for a few listens and the other night at the gym it just clicked. Really like scratches. I even dig his voice.

I would recommend.

I am going to pick up the rest of the releases.

I agree about his drug-era albums. Can't get to those but the stuff from 2004/2005 I'm really diggin'.
Try Shadows Collide with People, I think you'll dig it.
We should start a Chili Peppers thread. I'm sure it's been done but if it has it's been awhile.
BTW,
Thanks "SPYZ". I always enjoy your posts plus you're a 24-7 Spyz fan (I'm guessing) which is very cool.
