I don't like them either. Though I don't know if I'd call them a steaming pile of turd , there's one major factor that distracts me a lot: the whining voice. I have heard and read everywhere of "OK Computer", so I borrowed the album and didn't like it. I really can not follow the RH hysteria. Best album of all time? come on.

i've never understood their popularity...then again, most of the groups/acts out there right now make me feel that way too.

i love radiohead. i wouldn't put thom yorke's voice in a list of my favorite vocalists, but his singing is not why i listen to them.

They have a funk song called There There that you could play in place of Modernairre in Purple Rain and its funky yo.

They are like prog rock of today. Masters level rock Ive heard them described as. To me they are like the Kate Bush of modern rock and all that entails. Its complicated. Maybe not...they have integrity (yet are pretentuious but they do pretentious so good!). It's complicated. Once you "hear" them, it's awesome! But it has to be the right place, the right time, the right moment.

Maybe I was too hard on my opinion just before. The music itself is fine (as least what I have heard), so to say. And what the hell do I know (well that is a different story...) I remember track 3 - a slow track - on OK Computer as being beautiful and interesting, but - you know - the voice... sorry if my statement seemed exaggerated, don't want to insult anyone. Let me say this: I just don't get it.

Anyone who lists a reason for their dislike because of Thoms whine or nasal voice better not be a fan of Duran Duran. Thom knows he isnt a singer, trust. But his whine is beautiful compared to some singers who actually think they are or are "trying" to sing.

i don't like pink floyd that much, though i'm nuts about radiohead. in fact, getting into radiohead made me appreciate pink floyd a little more. i still don't like pink floyd that much, but my mind's a little more open to their stuff nowadays.

yeah he whines but so does bob dylan and they share the same trait: great songs.

personally i think they ARE overrated, but The Bends is still a great album in my book. maybe you shoulda tried that one first? little more bouncy.

I never really liked Radiohead (in fact I don't really like rock music too much) but the song Paranoid Android is a fucking killer track IMO.

I saw them peforming that song on Jools Holland show (BBC) and I was amazed how good they were live. Later I saw a live show on TV during the Kid A period, with lots of electronica, and it was nothing short of amazing! I have the deepest respect for these guys.

I only own OK Computer though. I wouldn't call it genius but the production is flawless, very good IMO, and there are a few very enjoyable tracks on this album. Definately one of the better bands from the last 10 years.

I, too, like the Bends the best, but I challenge you to listen to Paranoid Android and not say - "that's a great fu*&ing song!" It's actually one of my all time favorites. I don't think there's a bad song on The Bends
