I'd have to go with Bee Gees... I'm probably more likely to listen to ABBA these days but the Bee Gees have better material.

hmmm... then I guess you aren't really familiar with how long the BeeGees have been around or their place in pop music history. They are much more significant than the soundtracks to "SNF" and "Grease." You may like Abba more -which is great - but don't discount the BeeGees - they are lengendary producers and songwriters.

shrug

No I am. Actually quite aware. Just never heard those songs nor know how well they did. I know they have been around...a lot longer than ABBA that's for sure...and they have quite an extensive catalog (WHich I think I have in MP3 form somewhere) I just don't think that many of their songs have "come around again" like ABBA's has...hence making some their lesser known tracks haven't made a comeback on recent radio.

They have made a bigger impact in a smaller time frame...and in a certian genre. WHere as ABBA has reached more generations..but had more a niche impact in almost the same genre.

Nope. The Bee Gees are one of the most covered bands ever. Their songs are always coming around again.

I have to go with ABBA on this one. Their important music spanned more albums and years than the Bee Gees which were only important the few years during the Saturday Night Fever and Grease years. Most of their hits are contained on that soundtrack. Also much of their music is sorta rooted in a particular sound, where as I feel ABBA sound was more rounded out.

I strongly disagree.I think The Bee Gees music was more important and spanned a longer period of time than Abba's output. The only time I heard Abba was in the late 70s.Honestly,I can't name more than three or four songs by them. The Bee Gees were making hits since the 60s and their songs have been covered by everyone from Al Green to Luther Vandross. The 'Saturday Night Fever' soundtrack wasn't just the music from a hit movie,it was the soundtrack of an entire era.Plus, the Bee Gees dabbled in everything from rock, pop to disco and R&B.They were more diverse.Abba's sound was strictly pop.

She's not even worthy of sampling ABBA... disbelief

actually, she's one of the few artists who is worthy of sampling them. They rarely,if ever, allow other artists to mess with their music.

I believe they allowed it because it was "Madonna" and not because the song was that good! smile

Perhaps, but it's still remarkable that she is one of only two artists who were allowed to sample them. They have turned down numerous people. And btw...they spoke favorably of "Hung Up" lol

Wow - that's a difficult choice. omg

You guys usually make it so easy. lol

I love both - you can't deny that they've each mastered the pop song many, many times. Just look at their back catalogues. worship

But... I have to go with the Bee Gees. It's just a pull I have towards them. Simple as that. I've listened to them far more times.

Bee Gees are great songwriters but doesn't Barry Gibbs falsetto make you want to kill someone. Seriously. I can endure it for one song max. Plus just purely on aesthetics Agnetha and Frida can't be beat!!

Other way around for me. I can endure maybe four/five Abba songs in a row then my head starts to cave in. Luckily there's only one Bee Gees album that's overloaded with falsetto, so it's not really a problem.
