i was hoping it was that '58 line up. i can't tell with all of them other cats on stage. i know i didn't see Cannonball or Gil. John ripped it up as usual. imagine being so use to John's playing that you took a cigarette break doing his solo and chatted with the other people on stage, those guys were just too cool back then. | |

that vid is from april 2, 1959.
the band for that performance was: miles davis: trumpet john coltrane: tenor sax paul chambers: bass wynton kelly: piano jimmy cobb: drums cannonball adderley was not at this performance. after so what, miles did three songs from the miles ahead album, with gil evans conducting the jazz orchestra, the duke, blues for pablo, and new rhumba. it filmed for a cbs special, the sound of miles davis, mc'd by robert herridge. it is an awesome show. ------------------------------------------------
