By clicking on "free" button, I get to another site with no other link for download and nothing is happening. Am I the only one with this problem? first you click on the smily at the top of this thread than you click on the "Free" button at the first page. that will open up a new page at the bottom half of that new page you will see this text You have requested the file Madonna_American_Life_Director_s_Cut.mpg (54469912 Bytes). And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Perhaps it was one of those ideas that sound good in their infancy but prove to be less successful when fleshed out. Given that this video went through 3 major changes, I guess it's semi-safe to say that she had second thoughts (or the record label did). Which, itself, seems a bit unusual for Madonna. She could have easily went with the most graphic version and made $$$ off the sale of a video single once all the controversy hit and stations refused to play it... Madonna said in some interview that she pulled the video because of the consequences it would have in her kids life. She saw the effect such actions had on the Dixie chicks! Kids change people

Perhaps she could have just sold it as a DVD single, the same way she did for the controversial "What It Feels Like For A Girl" video. But I think, for the first time,Madonna was scared of a backlash. The war is a sensitive subject for many people, and I don't think Maddy wanted to "go there".While I love the video,I totally understand why she pulled it.

Damn right. Madonna's retarded. She's the Ringer with a flatter ass. And for the record, makin a GAP commercial with Missy does NOT quatlify her dumb ass to rap about her fuckin pilates and soy lattes. How come none of her beefs ever got her beat up?

Holy crap.
Madonna should have released this video isntead of that retarded "flag" version. What a cop-out. I don't buy that crap about being afraid of the effects a backlash might have had on her kids -she could've used it to teach them to stand up for what they believe in and not bow to peer pressure, and to voice their opinions when something is wrong. (because what is a backlash but an overgrown version of a schoolyard shunning?) Instead she's taught them that you should shut up and play nice and never ever raise your voice if you want the cool kids (mainstream audience, corporate endorsers, i.e. people who give you money) to like you.
