First off, I don't think Pete was joining them this time around. The only original Who members were going John and Roger. Now it's basically a glorified Roger Daltrey solo tour, if he decides to go on with it. What's the point, really?

It's all about dinasours riding the gravy train...sad really.Saw them in '78 and to this day remember the concert like it was yesterday.Pete Townsend had a broken strumming hand and STILL shredded. I was three rows from the top of the arena and you could feel the power of the band, even that far away..two hours and 45 minutes of GREAT classic rock.

Pete was scheduled for this tour from day one...Daltrey knows better to call a band without Pete the Who...

Towsend indeed did not want to do the tour - he gets all the money he needs from royalties, apparently. He & RD had a talk during which RD basically said, don't do it unless you're totally into it. Townsend is touring with them, so he apparently changed his mind.
Who did they hire to replace Entwistle? Don't tell me you didn't see this coming. How quickly did they hire a new drummer after Moon died in 1978? Still, can you fathom how much money could be made if some promoter put together a "Rock & Roll Survivors Supergroup" made up of all the people left over after their bandmates died of liver cancer, heart attacks, etc? Something crazy like that could pack people in.

they got Pino Palladino. he did both Daltrey and Townsend solo tours, and a lot of new wave stuff back in the day, like Go West and Paul Young discs...
