The Earth Wind & Fire Experience - Al McKay Allstars damn, now that was some slammin' show! Last Saturday they played at Viennna's Birdland (a club from Joe Zawinul) and really had the walls tumbling down!
I know, some might object it's just a cover band cashing in, no Philip and no Maurice, so what's the fuss.... but any coverband with music cracks like this are perfectly fine with me! I don't care about it, if they are able to put on a show more exciting than almost anything you can catch live these days. The club was packed still not more than probably 200 people fit in, so it was rather an intimate event, still the crowd got it going on. It was 14 top notch musicians packed on a stage of barely 20 square meters (see photo below), now you don't get silly dance routines, pyrotechnic and special effects here, just the plain music. Loved it! Make sure you're gonna catch them in case they stop by a place near you! You're gonna get your money's worth (I can't really say that about me cause we could sneak in the show for free  )

former member Sheldon Reynolds has his own EW&F tribute band,Devoted Spirits.They released an amazing CD last year and did a few dates too.They are planning to release a follow-up CD later this year. | |

Here's another stage shot
and after the gig the musicians insited to sign my newly purchased Live CD, and some also begged me to have taken a picture with me and to post it here on Prince.org. Of course I couldn't say no... so here's Michael Harris (formerly Phenix Horns) 
and the one with Al McKay is not too bright to say the least... so sorry Al, maybe next time you'll get another chance

I didn't catch this one yet, but heard many good things... (mainly here on the org) never found it at a store, so probably it didn't get an European release yet.. have to do some research finally Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy! | |
