Suby, you're getting the categories 'Best Debut Album' and 'Lamest third album by a white guy' confused.

This is a cool topic! I keep thinking of stuff I'd almost forgotten about.

Husker Du Land Speed Record (featuring the all time best song lyric - 'I wanna go to Gilligan's Island; I wanna fuck Ginger' - beat that A.C.!)

Big Black Atomiser
Slipknot Slipknot
Fountains of Wayne Fountains of Wayne
The Body Lovers Number One of Three
Madeleine Peyroux Dreamland
Dimitri from Paris Sacrebleau

Changed my mind about Fountains of Wayne. Just a bunch of Jellyfish wannabes. I want the cover as my avatar though (either that or the guy in the crazy spacesuit on the cover of the second Kula Shaker album - him reading the newspaper!!).

Let Love Rule--Lenny Kravitz.

Was that his debut? It was the first by him I knew of. I've got to buy it again cause it melted in my car.
I'm firmly planted in denial

When I saw this thread...the 1st thing that popped in2 my head was Whitney Houston's debut album...Whitney.

I thought that was it.

India Arie
Jill Scott
Mariah Carey
MJ (Off The Wall)
They all had quite impressive debuts to me, Remy Shand is really growing on me now so I'd have to add his name on that list too.

just last week the greatest debut cd ever was re-released in a deluxe edition.
THE VELVET UNDERGROUND & NICO
disc 1 is the remastered stereo version plus songs from Nico's 'chelsea girl' album that were written w/ and feature the velvets. disc 2 is the original mono mix of the album w/ the 'a' and 'b' side mixes of the two singles from the album. i suggest you go buy it NOW!!! the banana even peels off.

Wow... one of my top ten fave records of all time. Do they have the lyrics printed? "Sunday Morning", "Venus in fur", "Waiting for the man", "All Tomorrow's Parties"..The Golden Age of Edge when "edge" still meant something.

Actually Off The Wall isn't his debut album. But it certainly is his first adult solo album.

Yeah i know. i think his first solo album was 'Got to be there' or 'Ben'(could be wrong though) but i dont really consider those as solo debuts in the same way that i regard Off The Wall.
