I love The Bends and PA.I can also walk and chew gum simultaneously.

So I guess I give them another try...

I think you have to be in the right mood for them. When it is raining and I'm feeling a bit sad or depressed is when I love to listen to them. Also, John Mayer's new album, the John Mayer Trio is great and I don't even like John Mayer!

Sorry, OK Computer is fucking hypnotic. I LOVE that cd. There's a few other cuts of theirs that are great too, I think they're great

You really should! Even though the vocals are bit tiring to me sometimes, the music is nothing short of amazing. Ever since OK Computer they haven't done anything wrong!

I'm planning on giving Radiohead a chance, since almost everybody's talking so highly about them and especially OK Computer. The only thing I heard of them are the singles. But don't you guys think their music/sound is kinda depressing?

ok computer is a must. don't worry about anything else unless you just fall way crazy in love with ok computer. there's just so much to discover on that album, i think anyway. and yeah, it's pretty melancholy - it's brought me to tears several times over the years - but sometimes music should do that. not every album, but some of 'em.

Yes, very much so, actually. That's why you really have to be in the mood for them. Otherwise I find them unbearable. On some lonely days when a strange evening light shines into your room, there's nothing better, really. If you kow what I mean.

No. Which is strange why it gets dumped in that "depressing goth" ghetto. Thom and company don't mope, they feel they are going crazy, are in an insane world. The whine/tone is used for desired effect of unraveling.

I've heard a handful of their songs, but the only one that really stuck with me was Talk Show Host. I love that song, but the rest are just meh to me. Not bad, not good, just meh. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

OK Computer is great but I really started listening to them in like 1997. So I would start out with some of their old stuff. Whatever the two albums were before OK Computer are great too. I also loved Amnesiac.

I agree - OK Comp is IT for me w/ Radiohead I checked out their entire catalogue based on that one album Although I didn't find the other albums nearly as satisfying, there are songs here & there that I dig. I wouldn't call it depressing BUT if you're in a bit of an introspective/melancholy mood, it'll knock you on your ass

They really are this generation's Pink Floyd. They take chances with their music that not many other bands are willing to take. They're always reinventing their sound.
Hypnotic melodies, unexpected changes in the songs, unique lyrics, and Thom's vocals are awesome. Yeah, they're unusual, but I'll take that over any of these new rock bands' lead singers who all sound the same. Thom has this great, strained voice that sounds like he's singing from a different planet or something. Their only real flaw, and it's really not their fault, is that OK Computer is just so brilliant that I don't think they can ever really top it. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

In the 8th grade a couple of guys in my class made a presentation about Radiohead and showed us the Paranoid Android video. Damn, that stuff was like torture . So yea, Radiohead is just one of those bands that I really don't get [Edited 1/14/06 5:38am]

i like his voice. i like it a lot. just like bjorks voice, you either
like it or you hate it, i guess. besides, their music is inventive and different. especially what they did during the whole kid a / amnesiac period was mindblowing stuff. ok computer is simply stunning in it's beauty. it was the only record that sounded like future music for a new millennium, without being an instrumental/hyperactive techno snoozefest. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

In another time and place (univwerse) I could make you love Pink Floyd. oh, i bet you could. i'm sure given the right intro, i would adore '60s syd-era floyd. i don't like the bloated mid-70s stuff very much. i don't MIND 'the wall', but it's not something i'd choose to play for my own enjoyment. i have that greatest hits thingie they put out a few years back. i never play it. cue up Dark Side of the Moon with The Wizard of Oz sometime and you will appreciate the magnificence of one of the greatest albums of all time by one of the greatest bands of all time.
