And why did this song already sound familiar when Lil Kim sampled it ("No Time")?

Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

^^^ word. Ironically, I consider Part 1 and Part 2 to be THE most essential James Brown recordings.

I tend to agree, the song selection is just awesome. Those compilations and the JB Startime box set are absolutely essential. Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

Yes, they hooked up in the late 60s. For Vicki it was the second marriage .. with her first husband, she had daughter Carleen and her son Bart (who up until today is the musical director of the Bobby Byrd show). By the way, Carleen used to be married to the brother of former James Brown musical director Sweet Charles Sherrell. So it all stays within the family.

Funky ass song! I love the call out at the beginning:
Soul Sisters. We been goin' for the okie doke. The boys think we don't know how to get down! And the sistah responding: WHAT?! I first heard this song as a sample, to be honest. It was a song by the name of Freedom of Speech by Above the Law from the Pump Up the Volume soundtrack (a favorite soudtrack of mine to this day).
