I don't think she has really "disappeared".Her song "Luxurious" is still on the charts and she's nominated for several Grammys. If she's keeping a low profile these days,it's probably because she is pregnant lol

gwen's solo success has been harmless enough - it's been based on her music and her fashion sense, and she hasn't been cultivating a media circus or acting like a fool. sometimes it gets annoying to see her all over VH-1 and whatnot, but whatever - it's dumb fun pop music, kinda like '80s madonna, and it's better than a lot of the bubblegum pop crap out there.

I get embarrassed for Gwen when I hear her solo songs or see her videos. They are so childish and way to sugary sweet for my liking. I guess she's happy with them as they are making her rich beyond her wildest dreams, but IMO she has no substance and she acts like she's 14 instead of 30 something.

The woman's been around for over a decade. I'd say she's way past the 15 min mark.

I think we're talking about her solo career. She is/was excellent with No Doubt, but her solo career has last 14 minutes too long IMO.

I know what we're talking about. I just think to say she has 15 min of fame is a bit silly...considering. And personally, also considering the album has had 6 singles and has been on the charts for a while now, that also goes past the 15 min mark.

Like it or not, that album made a huge impact with out all the fuss...and that's quite an accomplishment.

We're all entitled to our opinions. I think her solo work is shit. I can't understand how anyone over the age of 16 could think it's good music.

I'd even give some 16 year olds more credibility. The album is just crap besides What you waiting for. Gwen may have sold lots of records and made a new and larger fanbase but she's lost so much credibility.

Absolutely!! She's gained lots of fans that like music without meaning or substance, but for those of us that enjoyed her work with No Doubt, most of us are left shaking our heads asking WTF when we hear her solo work or see her videos.

According to MTV.com, Gwen Stefani is releasing "Crash" as the next single off "Love.Angel.Music.Baby." I dare say she's squeezing every last mile out of that record that she can. It's rare to get five singles off an album these days. I'm heading toward the one-year anniversary of my college graduation, and girl's been pimping this CD since the early fall of senior year. I still like it, though, even if I've skipped "Luxurious" since I bought it. That sample is played out.

once again i agree with you, my dear sir

smile

besides, with all the crap being hurled at us these days i think
Gwen is nice to look at and nice to listen to. plus she's a grown
woman with some experience and not a 15 year old with her first
pube coming up, singing about her alcoholic ex who she's gonna be
kickin to the curb to get with her sista's and holla yo yo diddy

welcome to the new world market. you've been labeled and sold.

As much as I'm not a huge Madonna fan at least the majority of her 80's stuff and early 90's stuff didn't put my teeth on edge.

Gwen's solo material on the other hand is annoying as hell. First "Hollaback Girl" and now this "Luxurious" mess. The former being ultra repetitive and stupid and the latter formed around possibly one of the most overused Isley Bros. samples ever. eek

I love Gwen and her solo album and I hope her time isn't up. I was hoping that she would release a new album this year. There was some talk about that a while ago but now I fear with the baby coming she will not release it. sad

i always thought her stuff with NoDoubt was pretty pop-fluff...my ears dont hear much difference from then and now..beyond the removal of ska replaced with dance beats.
