I like "What More Can I Give" more than "We Are The World."

So I just heard "What More Can I Give" and saw the video for it today and I loved it. Infact, yes "We Are The World" got lots of hype, but I think "What More Can I Give" is a lot better of a song, production wise, and just over all. Also, "What More Can I Give" swiped a line from The Jackson 5 classic, "I'll Be There." Something about "Must bring salvation back." Does that ring any bells? I thought it would! wink

However..I think "What More Can I Give" is a better song in my book. Does anyone else agree?

I love Cry. So many people go "blah" to it, but i think it's lovely. It's not cringeworthy like Heal the World.

It's one the best songs R.Kelly ever wrote (I don't like him much, but I have to give him the congrats for this!)

"Cry" could have been huge with the correct promotion.

One of the best songs of Invicible...

I'm now listening to "Whatever Happens". Another great jam! wink

No, this is the song that was supposed to come out to benefit the 9-11 people. It never came out because Sony was treating all of Michael's projects like crap, and being really shitty because he told them, after "Invincible" he wanted to leave the label.

Oh, ok, so the charity single that has been "coming in 2 weeks" for 4 years now. Gotcha. wink

Which means in another 3.5 years, we should hear the Katrina one. Have they titled it, yet?

Here is my theory..Not that it matters..
I think Michael REALLY wanted "What More Can I Give" to come out, and Sony intended to release it a short time after 9-11-01, then 2 things happened.
1)Sony got word Michael was leaving the label and shafted everything he was involved in.
2)Marc Shaffel produced a bunch of gay porn movies under a different name, and once Mc Donalds got word of this, (they were backing the project somehow) backed out, and with that, the project caved.

As for the "Katrina" single..I think Michael had problems organizing it. And I bet a lot of the big name stars that he invited to be on it, might have declined because of the fact that his late "chairity project" fell flat and didn't come out.

Michael should probably just donate some $ or do a live concert. Depending on trying to get everyone all together, and try to make it happen, has got to be a bitch.

Oh well..as for when the "Katrina" single will come out..I'd bet..in a few years. As sad as that is sad

I don't think I've ever listened to the entire What More Can I Give song. As for We Are The World, I like the demo better for some reason...

1)kate bush was never in depresssion

2) sony wasnt to blame for the "what more can i give" fiasco..mj was for allowing a gay porn director involved.

I doubt he knew if the dude was using an alas for his porn movie crap.

I know lots of MJ fans want to believe MJ is all good and does no wrong, but I realize some things are his fault, but blaming Michael for WMCIG not coming out is just whack.

Possibly, but there also were too many annoying voices on the other version. I only liked Michael, Bruce, and James's vocals out of everybody.

I just watched We Are The World and I seriously wish I had a lighter to wave in the air lol

I always get Bob Dylan's horribly annoying part stuck in my head after I listen to it but I think its great, maybe better than the demo shrug . I'll have to brace myself to go watch WMCIG, because there are at least five people singing that I really don't want to hear but I want to give it a chance anyway...

I agree. We Are The World is very cheesy. I don't find myself wanting to sing it.
