His voice is wonderful & hopefully always will be
Like Rhonda said (Rhonda, you are KILLING me this morning w/ Eddie's inclusion & hoeing after the show!! ) it does kill the fantasy. But we don't buy their music just for the fantasy, it can be a part of it though when you find an artist attractive. It's funny though that no one can list any lyrics - I'm curious about what's being said. Is it blatant? Nasty? Clever? What's making the label freak out so bad, I wanna know Luther always sang about women, we all know the truth... It took MeShell a while to sing about women... George Michael sang about women... Who cares, as long as the music is good... and what does it say about me that when Meshell sangs Pocketbook that I think she's singin' to me... That's HOT!!! for real though.... and Lutha has some very ambiguous lyrics.....but we loved him anyway... Rahsaan is gay as gay can be....but I LOVE HIM... We love Maxie....gay, straight or whatever...just release the damn cd...

You know that women fantasise about Prince and Maxwell and you know that would kill the fantasy. So, in effect, your answer could be YES. Most women don't want to fantasize about a man that they know likes men. She probably likes to think that Max is singing to her and only her. If it doesn't apply to her, I know several women it does apply to and that would be your answer. Now whut?! [Edited 1/8/06 20:44pm] Blaque is right. The only gay artist for whom sexual orientation wouldn't matter would be Luther, God rest his soul. Everyone KNEW that man was gay and didn't care. Maxwell, however, built this image as a ladies' man and is different. I kinda disagree on Prince because that was his appeal: he dressed, sang and flirted like a woman but "got down" like a man. IMHO, that drove a lot of women bonkers over him! Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

I went to a Maxwell concert a few years back and i got vibes that he was holding back from really letting go of his sexual energy on stage. Now with that, the thought that maybe he was "gay" crossed my mind for millisecond, but that really doesn't mean anything. He might just be a conservative straight guy...or maybe he just does his freaky things in private and not on stage..we don't actually know unless we climb a tree outside of his house and spy on him outside his bedroom window....
whether he's gay or not, i still love Maxwell's music, i'll definitely be picking up the next album because it is long overdue..... I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Yea, some women are like that But for me honestly, when I find out a dude is gay it just kills it for me in terms of being sexually attracted Why fantasize when I have no shot in hell? Not that I'd have a shot w/ Maxwell ANYWAY but damn, at least I got a pussy he can fall into if he's straight

I remember laughing so hard at that "Can I Take You Out Tonight?" video. Luther was SO not convincing in trying to mack on Gabrielle. I wasn't mocking him, I was laughing because, just IMHO, Luther was trying to maintain a facade when he didn't HAVE to. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Maxwell is expected to release his long awaited new CD this year. Unfortunately the February release date is not happening, it's been delayed. Hopefully it will be out in the Spring.
I personally don't care about his sexual orientation. The guy is an awesome singer/musician. [Edited 1/10/06 18:01pm]

BlaqueKnight said: TheAstonishing said: the situation you've described is the fan/heart-throb relationship. not the fan/artist relationship. but even going with your notion... perhaps a white man loved Mariah Carey as an "artist" until he found out she was half black, because he's white and only likes to fantasize about white women. would that be acceptable to you as well? oh, and by the way. she answered the question for herself, so i'm not sure why you were butting in in the first place. So what if it is a fan/heartthrob relationship? Maxwell can't be a heartthrob? The very nature of the question was leading towards defensiveness. That happens on here a LOT. Nobody's trying to take all the gays away but hetrosexuals shouldn't have to apologize for liking someone because they are physically attracted to them and them being gay would detract from that fantasy, thereby detracting from the appeal that said artist would have to them. There are a lot of women who wouldn't like Prince as much if he wasn't a pretty boy. Many will never admit it but its true. I butted in because this is a message board. Its public. I can. Whut?! DAYUM !!! Game point. [Edited 1/11/06 0:04am] "Who gon' clean up all deez Flowers" ----Eddie Murphy as mr. clarence

Labels won't let artist be artistic anymore. He should be able to write whatever he wants and let his audience make the choice as to whether or not they want to support it. I understand and so do you but the restof the world are lemmings when it comes to music. They won't take the Clear Channel I.V. out of their arms. As long as "the machine" rules, tht's how its probably gonna be. They've backed themselves into a corner as to where they HAVE to follow formula. Its crippling genres across the board. Image rules.
