what the fcuk do u mean u don't like abba!??? Sorry, I know music tastes are subjective and all that, but clearly anyone who hates or can't appreciate them has yet to hear their 1976 masterpiece, Arrival.
I mentioned in my last thread that I just forked out 130 EUROs for their complete studio recordings box set, and may I just say to u all that it was worth every cent for the sole pleasure of discovering the stunning When I Kissed the Teacher Why Did It Have To Be Me is another classic. Absolute proof that Abba were more than a singles band. [Just imagine the amazing feeling to be had upon listening to the album for the fist time back in'76 before all the singles had been released and played to near death...] I've spent the last week exploring their albums through their boxset (love the replica vinyle packaging btw), which is something I could never have imagined doing before recently. It also saved me from having to buy their brilliant and beautiful Spanish compilation, Abba Oro. Gracias por la musica! p.s. to anyone thinking of buying the complete studio recordings of abba be careful when ripping the cds with Windows Media Player as all the tags are incorrect (as are so many of the albums on the WMP database) and have to be carefully searched for and edited. Also, Itunes uses AAC files, not compatible with IHP-140 iRiver If u have about 4 hours free time then u don't need to worry.

I know they were massive in the 70's but I really can't get into their cheesy disco jams. They make me wanna puke. They're so sugary sweet. I get cavities when I hear them.

I hate em. Theyre just annoying and cheesy! In fact its possible their fans that annoy me more, not in general, but just that certain breed of women who treat their, and many other 70s cheesy pop songs, as their own personal anthems. Im sorry if thats too bold for you, or offensive, Ive just always been a bit too much of a music snob for Abba ....

I'm sorry, but every time I read the title of this thread it cracks me up!!!!!
You know, as an American who immigrated to Europe, I totally didn't get the ABBA phenonmenon till I got here: ABBA really is a legendary part of the pop music fabric here, like MASSIVE!!!! In Europe ABBA and the other Swedes are like how we in the States may have felt about the JAckson 5, or some other comparable group that's massive in Ame music culture. My German other half is a highly respected bass player in this country that has played and toured with the likes of Randy Brecker, Barry Finnerty (of Miles Davis Fame), Teddy Richards (Aretha Franklin's MD, and well, her son), and as a favor, he went to the pit of ABBA musical MAMA MIA to learn the show to sub for a friend there: he thought that he would hate it, but actually, he came back all estatic that the bass lines were funky enough to play and have fun!, LOL! Abba is COOL.
