...i'll go first.

Erykah Badu...some of her songs are just too dang long. and she re-uses shit too often.

another.

Madonna...tries too hard to be 25 again with her lyrics, fashion, videos, etc. girl, be a classy middle aged lady and play up the 'mature' sexuality thing a little more. but don't change the hung up video...the pink leotard was hot.

[b]

I take it back. One thing I admire about Madonna is to be whoever she wants, however she wants, and anyone who doesn't like it can fuck off. She's still got a great body and makes great pop music so I don't think she should have to "act her age" or join the knitting club or anything. My bad.
I'll change her flaw to...I wish she'd do another song like "Like A Prayer"...live instruments would be nice.
I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

I wish she could really sing live. Would have made the performance i saw at least HALF bearable.

I love her I take no bull from anyone-approach.

Here's another; I looooove D'Angelo's music on so many levels, but HATE it seems he got caught in believing his own press. I wish he had followed up on Brown Sugar with something more substantial (don't get mne wrong; I adore Voodoo) as to forge a somewhat broader fanbase.

I do not know if he is at all interested in a carreer, but he was the only one after Prince that I could see breaking that R&B/Rock barrier, spurred on by that amazing show he gave at the North Sea Jazz Festival AAAAAGES ago...

I wish I could hear the stuff they DIDN'T release offa Voodoo... and the new stuff Alan Leeds is so enthousiastic about.

Prince---his refusal to remaster his old albums. This is beyond ridiculous.Nearly every other longtime artist has had their catalogs remastered, sometimes with bonus tracks, live versions, etc. Many of Prince's early albums ('Dirty Mind','Controversy',etc) sound like shit on CD.And it's a damn shame that 'Sign O The Times' hasn't been remastered by now.

Madonna---she seems to be stingy with bonus tracks. We know she has a ton of outtakes, but she won't release them.Warners wants to put out a multi-disc box set filled with rarities, but unfortunately, she is the one who won't cooperate.

Stevie Wonder---like Madonna,he seems reluctant to release some of his many tracks stored in his vaults. When Motown released a 4-CD box set in 1999,it didn't include a single previously unreleased song.Ditto for the remasters of his classic 70s albums.

Santana---no more guest stars on his albums, please! He's got one of the greatest bands in pop music right now,but the public never really gets a chance to hear them because he fills his albums up with guest stars who steal the spotlight.I think people are getting sick of it.

Missy Elliott: She doesn't sing enough. As much as I LOVE the personality and humor in her rapping (which is admittedly terrible from a technical standpoint), singing is her true talent and she needs to utilize it more often. Can the Lil' Jon-esque ad-libs as of late, too! mad

Usually, it's the overpriced concert tickets.

It should be noted that all of these artists are people I truly love, and these complaints are not things that ultimately negate my respect of their music:

Prince- Doesn't use his music club to its full adavntage! He should release more music through this medium, but simply doesn't. All that brilliant stuff sitting in his vault....sigh

Duran Duran- They always blow their momentum. They get going, have a great comeback, and then completely fizzle out with a long break. It then takes them another three albums before they get rolling again, regardless of how good those albums might be.

George Michael- Takes too damned long to do an album, and he is often pretentious as can be. Wants so badly to be taken seriously as an artist that he sometimes forgets to have fun.

Tears For Fears- Another example of being the opposite of prolific. An album every five or six years just doesn't cut it!

Billy Corgan- Pretentious, and apparently a pain in the ass to work with.

Kate Bush- 12 years between albums? WTF???

Madonna- Hundreds of dollars for her concert tickets, combined with the fact that she never comes near my neck of the woods, assure that I'll never get the opportunity to see her live.

Merzbow - criticizes too much the transgressive imaginary used in Western noise tradition whereas he was actually the first one to utilize proper BDSM themes on his own releases, and there have been the same skulls and dead animals adorning his album sleeves as well. Put too much emphasis on the "healing" aspects of noise, even though he knows damn well there are far better ways to "celebrate life"

Masonna - loudness for loudness' sake. Could actually benefit a lot from actually listening to other artists, and mainly finding some parallels from Power Electronics.

Brighter Death Now - the child porn aspects creep me out. Guess they are supposed to be, but it's an association most of his label's artists have to bear with them also.

I always suspected that Maddy wasn't very fond of Texas, and the song "I Love New York" basically confirms it,huh?

Well, yeah. Of course, she rips on London in that tune too, and she friggin' lives there! But, I'm inclined to agree with you that she doesn't like Texas, as the last time she came here was for the Blonde Ambition tour (which I missed).
