Rick James' New Album

Whatever became of Rick James' new album? I'm not talking about another hits collection, I mean the new disc that some of the orgers were talking about awhile back. Did it ever come out? What is the scoop? Does anyone know?

James Ambrose Johnson, Jr, better known as Rick James, (February 1, 1948 – August 6, 2004) was an American funk and soul musician, who worked as a singer, keyboardist, bassist, record producer, arranger, and composer during his long career.
The DVD Rick James: Rockpalast Live, which features a 1982 concert performance from Essen, Germany was released in 2005.
The public will once again have the opportunity to listen to brand new material from Rick James, as he will be featured on Busta Rhyme's highly-anticipated Aftermath debut; "The Big Bang". The two collaborated on a song shortly before his death. The song, which is produced by DJ Greenlantern, will be one of many explosive guest appearences by the likes of Stevie Wonder, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Ol' Dirty Bastard and more. "The Big Bang" is scheduled for a late March 2006 release. (no current update available on how the project is going at present)

This project is so mysterious.Amazon is selling the CD as an expensive import ($29.99).They say it will take 4 to six weeks before you receive it,but I doubt that it has been released anywhere. Some fans insist that they already have it confuse

in any case, this is the tracklist...

RICK JAMES 'FOREVER'

Taste
Just Got Played
(When) Yo Body's Mine
Sapphire
Freak Baby
Sex Slave
Deeper Still
Funk Wit Me
Stroke
Brass Bed
My Life

Will it ever be released? Is it circulating somewhere? Has it been cancelled? Who knows?

if this album is being released on Sanctuary, then I guess we may NEVER get it mad

Sanctuary Records is a joke. They don't even have the money to promote the albums that they do release.Look at what happened with Earth Wind and Fire's latest CD....no singles,no radio airplay,no videos, and the project faded away after one week.

Sanctuary seems to be a good label for older/estbalished artists that want to release a new album to the public without the pressure of..you know...selling copies!

Kelly Osbourne was(maybe is) signed to Sanctuary and I thought that they were going to have at least a modest hit since they seemed to be doing a little promotion for her album...It was a dance pop album and the single came out with a video but I don't think the album translated to the public at all.."One Word" did become a dance hit, though. I think the only reason the video got any airplay was because MTV probably felt "Osbournes" guilt....

Kelly flopped because the week her album came out she went into rehab for the millionth time in about 2 years...

That is so crappy.. mad
I was thinking of ordering it to. Oh well. I just searched ebay and found nothing. I'd be curious to know how these people reviewing it at amazon heard the album, if it is sooo hard to find..hmm hmm

Those people who reviewed the unreleased albums are probably plants. Y'know people who're paid to create positive buzz about a project via the internet.

So this may sound like an over-drive question but do the "plants" actually hear the album? or just make up stuff just for the sake of making it up? or both? hmmm

That's right...Surely didn't help and the best part is that she never went back to pushing the album (which if you look at the credits, really appears to be a Linda Perry album). I think the day it came out it was announced she was going to rehab....and they didn't even mention she had a new album out that same day. Regradless, I liked the album. Not great by any means but good.

I can't say for certain. But I would imagine some do and some don't. Most probably do, however. But the payola undermines their credibility.
