What did you listen during puberty?

Hehe, i got to ask this arguable question. I guess many of us have their "special" points in our personal music-and-taste-developing era, maybe even black ones.

So, what was your favourite band then? Your favourite style of music? Your first CD ever bought/owned?

Now, I'm going to open Round One.
I'm 23 years by now, but I guess I look older wink

Favourite band: has to be Megadeth (well, I still like them still occasionally)
First CD: Countdown To Extinction, bought in later 1993, of course by Megadeth. My sisters and brothers went mad.

Other faves: Metallica, Napalm Death, Sepultura... ET CETERA... so I guess I was a kind of metalhead. During that time, I never cared too much for Nirvana (one of my favourite bands NOW). My formula: the harder, the better, the cooler!

Hair-dyed? YES. Black in the later years.
Clothes: green jeans (!), chequered shirts.
Trivia: I thought I could impress the girls with the heaviest music. But I tell you: it did not work. They did not like me much these days.

Timeline:ca. 1993-1996

Me too! But... don't be too hard on yourself... at least I think we can forgive you... AS LONG as you DID NOT listen to --- tam tam --- CAUGHT IN THE ACT! I had a friend back in those days - a male friend - who had a cita poster over his bed... Good god, that's inexcusable, isn't it?!?! I believe they were the most terrible boyband ever crawling out of a dusty, dark and wet teen-music-konsumprodukt, but that is not my field of science. I preferred Dave Mustaines red hair so much more.

@weepingwall: ah, teachers are nagging very often... sometimes they even bite, it happened to me 2times. I guess "Low" is one of your faves? It's my fave Bowie, and one of my all-time faves. Excellent choice, if so!!!

You are welcome! Chaos AD was, as I think, their best effort. Did not like "Roots" a lot; Arise was fine, too. My nephew once borrowed me one of their first albums (I think it had the devil sitting on the cover, in a way). Pretty wild, best SATAN-ROCK FROM HELL! hehe. Not recommended to catholic girls, as long as they did not learn to blow.

Roots was a good album, especially the drum breakdown on the title song. Dave Mustaine is a legend. Rust in Peace biggrin

Coundown, Youthnasia

I still love metal and megadeth.

Yeah, sometimes theres a need to put some of the old faves into. I do enjoy (the early) Rammstein still a lot. That was the last "metalish" band I discovered, back in 97. (just a little after that I heard that they were in the charts, what a toxic shock!)
Countdown was/is my favourite MD album, followed by Rust in Peace. Especially the omnious organ at the beginning of the first song of "Killing...", hey, I tried to imitate that on a RAPEMAN. well those were the days...

And, of course, Ride the Lightning, MoP, and Justice... by metallica. Simply good memories, simply killer music.

hehe, you wouldn't believe it, but inspite of exscessive use of electric guitar-medicine, mixed up with long heired chemicals and leather-jacket-acid, i turned out being "normal". satan never gave me a visit (though i would have liked to play some poker or watch britney videos). funny, btw, i just have to think of the PMRC. I think of the "signs" they mentioned a "strange" kid (that maybe was under the influence of the devil) would depict, was the WEARING OF GYM SHOES.

well considering I grew up in the middle of nowhere with about 4 radio stations that played anything other than country--my exposure was both limited and varied. Here were my faves in HS (89-93):

The Steve Miller Band (for drinking to)
The Eagles (for drinking to)
Pearl Jam: 10 (for drinking to)
Metallica: The Black Album (for being rowdy & drinking to)
AC/DC (for football games)
George Michael (since the 3rd grade!!)
MC Hammer (2 Legit Yo!)
JJ Fad
Bell Biv Devoe
En Vogue
Boyz II Men
TLC
Milli Vanilli boxed

I proudly NEVER liked New Kids on the Block, and thankfully have outgrown my penchant for heavy metal and goofy white bands from the 70s. biggrin

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Prince, Prince, and more Prince. I learned about sex through Prince. I would hear songs like "Head" and "Jack U Off" and didn't know what they meant. When I used to sneak and find my uncle's dirty magazines, I would read the forums in Penthouse and see the words in the stories and that's how I learned what they meant.
