hm, I guess it would be everything of Nirvana. Though it was loooong after the classic period.

Zappa/Mothers - Roxy & Elsewhere (don't know if it kicks ass, but it kicks ass wink)

Hm, guess I should take some notes with my pencil and my pad...

Isn't Future Shock a Hancock album? But anyway, Curtis is awesome. I'm brandnew to him (bought "curtis" a few weeks ago) - and, what can I say, wow. I'm looking forward to collect a lot of this man. Move on Up!

There is one thing that I really do miss a lot, and I think this is maybe one of the points that should be stressed out. Theres a Zappa DVD out called Baby Snakes, featuring a live show from 78 or so; they played at the Palladium, NYC. Though this is not one of my favourite FZ periods, the show is just breathtaking. I mean, the way Frank "talks" with the audience, shaking hands, kissing some female persons, doing crazy stuff... It seemed to be much more "normal" back in those days, lovlier. He was not doing some "I AM A ROCK SUPERSTAR AND DON'T TOUCH ME ASSHOLES AFTER YOU SPENT A LOT OF MONEY" shit, he was just "real". I don't know if this was only Zappa-specific, but it represents to me the feeling back in those days - in which I did not even exist. I miss people like him a lot.

Btw, saw a Johnny "Guitar" Watson live concert on tv, some mid-70s show. GREAT! Did not know that Johnny did funky music, have to check it out some more. ("Ain't that a bitch" is a song i recall). It had everything: 70s sunglasses, 70s hats, and 70s tight trousers with some inexplicable rises on special areas... fantastic.

yeah herbie hancock did have an album called "future shock", most famously known 4 the song "rockit". the title song was a cover of curtis mayfield's orginal though.... ya know i listened 2 johnny guitar watsons 70's albums for years, but didn't know he went all the way back to the 50's and started out as a blues man....lol

You can have Nirvana.

But for musicianship...

...this record does kick ass.

Never imagined that i'd actually live in the city called out in Village of the Sun. disbelief

I've got all those in album form (showing my age!). I even have a killer collection of Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention....my fave? "Chunga's Revenge".
