Anxiety

this might be jacking the thread just a touch, but since we have some hendrix fans in here, i figured it would be a good time for me to ask this question again:

do you know anything about the guitar zappa acquired from hendrix? i know when he was alive, he refurbished the charred remains of one of jimi's "sacrificed" guitars and zappa would play it in concert...and later in the '70s, adrian belew (who, of course, used to play with frank) was seen playing what i think was the same guitar when he toured with bowie. i've been trying to figure out if adrian was playing jimi's guitar (and frank's) when he played with bowie...i can't find anything that says yes or no, other than footage that doesn't have me 100 percent sure.

anyway. just throwing the question out there. carry on. smile

heres pics of the guitar u are talkin about..(see story below)

Hendrix guitar fails to sell

Hendrix owned at least three Sunburst Fender Stratocasters
A guitar owned and played by Jimi Hendrix has remained unsold at auction after failing to reach its reserve price.

The 1965 Sunburst Fender Stratocaster had been billed as the highlight of auctioneers Cooper Owen's "rock legends" sale in London.

They had expected it to fetch up to £150,000.

Hendrix, considered by many to be the greatest ever rock guitarist, died at the age of 27 in a London flat in September 1970 after overdosing on sleeping tablets.

The reserve price of the guitar was not revealed, although it was believed to be at least £100,000.

It had not been up for sale since it was presented to Hendrix's manager's assistant, Tappy Wright, shortly after the guitarist's death.

The guitar is one of three Sunbursts used by Hendrix.

Another, owned by Frank Zappa's son Dweezil, went up for sale last September.

It received a bid for £300,000 but Zappa declined to accept it.

Regarding the Hendrix/Zappa/Belew guitar connection...

Might it be worth mentioning that Adrian Belew used the Hendrix strat during the 77-78 tours? He liked it so much that after leaving FZ's band, he custom burned his own Strat and used that one (most famously with the Talking Heads) till around mid-1981 during early Discipline (later King Crimson) gigs."

... I'm guessing Bill Lantz is a giant Zappa-head (http://users.cableaz.com/~lantz/)
