Quincy is a genuis, indeed. His 70s albums are incredible. However,I don't like his recent albums.Too many damn guest stars and rappers!! I bought his 1995 album 'Q's Jook Joint' but I eventually sold it....I wanna hear Quincy, not a bunch of rappers! Unfortunately,he is still continuing down this tired road. His upcoming CD will feature Snoop and Dr.Dre on a track disbelief

3 cheers !!!! he is wise to stay current...but foolish to accept modern popular culture standards over true musical content..they just dont compare on any level to where he's been in the pasts..and it always sounds forced...quincy aint about to start using dirty gritty samples taken from a turntable with a dusty needle...and u cant try to get thugs in the studio with the best sushi lunch havin..."CLEANASS" session cats in LA wink

SenseOfDoubt

Quincy appears in a Prince documentation, that was made in 1989. (Do not know the title by now, there are shown parts of the Batman recording sessions, and a lot of people are doing comments: George Clinton, Eric Clapton... and Quincy). He says that Prince might put TOO much on his shoulders. Sometimes I feel the same.

I love how the MJ heads pull the Billie Jean demo out of their arse when trying to minimize Q's role in taking MJ's voice, music, and overall creativity to new heights. lol They act like Billie Jean is and will be the greatest song ever written and ever recorded. It's not. It's not even MJ's best song, IMHO.

Michael had been a professional recording artist for ten years prior to Off The Wall, Obviously, he knew what the producers role is and all that goes into making a great record. Still, he wanted a producer to help him grow artistically and to help him discover his "sound"...his adult sound.

Mike was/is aware of how Q was the man...why do his fans try to re-write history? shrug

I should pose this question on Music and More, but does Prince think Quincy is genius? Dude showed major disrespect to Q.

As he's known to do to those he's intimidated by. Since P's doing all this jazzy dinner music maybe he should give Q a call for some "advice".

not just billie jean, but beat it and wanna be starting something, oh, as well as dont stop till you get enough and most the songs on bad.

i'm not saying quincy did nothing, but as much as you think people underrate his role, i think most people overrate it. the most important thing is the songs, not the production, the best ones which michael wrote. i think michael could of done just as good an album, maybe even better, with patrick leonard.

I kinda wish he would go into the studio with just two vocalists...perhaps Patti Austin and James Ingram again? Keep it simple, like he did on 'The Dude',his 80s masterpiece. The hip-hop thing just doesn't work for a guy who is now in his 60s disbelief

The statement in bold shows how little you know about what's involved in producing, and that's not intended to be a diss. Most people have a limited view of what a producer's role is. R ather than provide an on-line tutorial, we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Everything that man touches turns to gold.
I just listened to his 1962 album Bossa Nova and it's amazing. Thats 20 years before Thriller.
And he turned perhaps my favorite song of all time Stevie Wonders Superwoman almost even better than the original on the Sounds.. And Stuff Like That!! album.
Give if up for the genius that is Q.
worship

But not everything he touched deserved to go gold...

Terrible album! The man's done some really brilliant work, but this album is typical, bland early 90's MOR radio fluff. Tomorrow was better 15 years earlier as an instrumental track from The Brothers Johnson. And the remake of I'll Be Good to You? Why not just remake the entire Look out for #1 album? lol Grammy sure loved the album too. As I recall that was a bad year for Grammys anyway. But this album?

Love it!

I know what you're aiming at... listening to it today some of the tracks don't sound as great to me as they appeared back then lol

however, even if Jazz purists will kill for this, his rendition of Birdland is still exciting & hot as shit
Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

birdland is the shit.

Meh, so the albums dated, whats new? Madonna's albums sound dated too? Fuck dated.....

I dont like that album too much, but "i'll be good to you" is a jam. Hardly MOR, its just bubblegum pop. "tommorrow" is cool. Tevin sounding like a young Jacko, its sweet, like seseme street.
