Tina Turner Kennedy Center Honors

Is anyone watching this with Queen Latifah doing What's Love Got To Do With It, Meliss Etheridge doing River Deep, and Beyonce doing Proud Mary???

I was scared at first for Latifah but she did a pretty good job and she looked very nice. I am not a Beyonce admirer but I actually had to give it up. She came out and did her best Tina impersonation--dress, heels, bright red lipstick, too big-too long hair and she worked it out. Got the moves down and received a standing ovation.

Al Green did Let's Stay Together and that was alright but I guess Bee was the highlight.

The Tina Turner tribute was Hot. Queen, Melissa Beyonce and Al did their thing. Beyonce blew me away. It was like she channeled Tina.

how funny.. i started a thread over in p&r about this show:

http://www.prince.org/msg/105/172246

it is *the* best awards show..it is *the* highest honor an artist can recieve from the american government. its a shame this show doesnt get the attention that the oscar's or grammy's does because it truly represents the american culture as art.

no politics at play..just a true celebration of craft.

congrats to all the winners of this year.

I saw the show last night with my husband. I was NOT impressed with Queen Latifah's performance, in fact i told my husband that Mary J would have been a much better person to choose. Everyone else rocked it! But did you catch Tina's response to "Let's stay together". It was a little cold. She smiled for all the other performers but no smile for Al (during the performance)....

hmmmmm, i wonder what was going through her mind.

I'm sorry but you just can't touch Tina Turner. All of you praising Beyonce are on crack. She should stick to what she knows. It bit the big one.

You know, you're absolutely right.
I'm sure old Madonna could've just "reinvented" herself into Tina Turner and done a much better tribute.
