Bryan Loren, anyone know him?

Just picked up his solo album "music for the new world" from his rare 1992 album. (i had no idea he did a solo album?)

Great pop album. Not outstanding, but catchy and consistant all the same. The uptempo's sound like they come from the same sessions as "superfly sister" track bryan did with jacko.

Oh, no mistaking jacko's voice on the chorus of "satisfy you", a slowjam that could of been on "dangerous".

Man, I used to play this cats first album all the time back in the day! I still have the album on wax someplace. I need to dig it out now. Are you sure the album you're talking about is from 92? Is Lollipop Love on there? If so, that's his 82 album. The pic you posted is mos def from that album. If he really does have an album from 92 I need to hunt that down. I always thought BL was a nice little R&B artist.

Yeah, man he was like THE 1st real solo producer that KNEW his craft
& could actually play those instruments well. I love his work on Vesta's
debut cd. they said he was a bit of a handful but we could sure use him now.

Oh, Yeah! I especially remember "Lollipop Luv" and "Do You Really Love Me"! It seemed like he became one of A&M Records' in-house writer/producers in the mid to late 80's, I remember his tracks appearing on albums by everyone from Sting("We'll Be Together Tonight") and Vesta Williams to Randy and the Gypsys...he had a second solo album, but the release date kept getting pushed back, I don't know if it ever got released...

Yeah I meant to type 84 and not 82. I pulled the album out last night after I saw this thread. I forgot how good that album was. Lolipop Luv is the standout track but Do You Really Love Me was a really solid cut too. Also, I did a search on BL over at allmusic.com It does show a 92 released called "Music For The New World" just like thesexofit said. I didn't know that album even existed. I'm going to try and find that for sure. But thesexofit you really need find his first album if you dig BL. Lollipop Luv was his only real hit but the whole album is good.

I'm only familiar with Bryan through the work he's done recently with Michael Jackson -- I had no idea he did "Lollipop Luv" back in the day!

I learn something new all the time...

I actually listen to it still sometimes. It sounds very dated, but the drum machines, prominat keyboards, and that beatboxy production is kinda unique. U would love the slowjams. They are pretty sweet. I like the midtempo's too.

Just a simple selection of uptempo's, midtempo's and slowjams. Nothing special lyrically, but strong melodies all the same. It sounds very fresh today. I playing it on my walkman and my mate thought one of the uptempo's "for you" was a new rnb track.

"doesn't mean i dont love u", as the rest of the album, is very happy sounding music. Good for a summers day. Proberly lolipop luv is like that too?
