Janet Jackson`s best song?

I just heard a Janet Jackson song, called "God`s stepchild"
This has to be her best song, it`s amazing.
It`s from the "down in the delta" soundtrack, and goes like this:

Gotta story for you
'Bout a little friend
Never felt good enough
Had a heart to mend
Never felt pretty
Learned to just pretend
Wished someone had listened
To her cries of pain

Maybe I'm the lucky one
Maybe the forgotten one
Maybe, but I know
I'm not God's Stepchild

Didn't want to burden
Mother had enough stress
So often I’d talk to you
Through my four legged friends
Always there to listen
Though I felt so all alone
And in my times of trouble
I know you saw my smile of pain

Now that I am older
Gone through so much pain
I learned that I should love me
No more feeling ashamed
I've seen the great illusions
I've seen the rough terrain
I've walked through my own journey
And my love for you remains

I know I'm the lucky one
I know I'm a special one
I know, that God does

Not have a stepchild

I've never heard this. Downloading now.

And out of all the music of hers I've heard (which is everything on her six Jam & Lewis studio albums and a couple unreleased songs), I'd personally pick "The Pleasure Principle" as her best song, even if it's probably not my favorite.

Well, I listened to it, and.. I don't really know whether to think it's lame or lovely. neutral I think it has to grow on me.

It's one of my favorites, but not the best.

"God's Stepchild" is also on the Japanese edition of 'The Velvet Rope'.

My favorite Janet song is "Special", but I know a lot of fans are tired of her self-help tracks.

I like her slow songs, like this one, and "let`s wait a while", which is my favorite Janet song from the 80s

4 me its a battle royal between "control"(nast nasty bassline and keyboard work) "again"(simply beautiful in its simplicity) "when i think of you"(another cool bassline and melody) "pleasure principle"(a masterpiece)

Are we counting her duet with Michael on "Scream?" If so then "Scream" gets my vote.

If not..

"God's Stepchild"? nah. while it isn't going to put you into a diabetic coma the way "Special" does, it's still a bit too saccharine.

"One More Chance" is her best.

Thinkin' the same thing.
Empty comes to mind first.
