Difference? Age I like Michael's adult voice tons better then his child voice. Not to say both aren't great. I think it is just a matter of taste. Either way..The Jacksons get my vote. The Jacksons are forever the bomb, to be sure (even if I get sick of hearing how great somewhat played-out stuff like "Blame It On The Boogie", "Can You Feel It", "Heartbreak Hotel", etc., etc. are when they had lesser hits or non-hits that are on the same level of excellency). I'm partial to the Jackson 5, though, because of that rich, timeless Motown sound and Michael's voice being at its peak (just listen to "Who's Lovin' You".. adult Mike couldn't feck with that). try listenin to "lady in my life", "rock with you","butterflies","another part of me" "man in the mirror","dirty diana" or "who is it"...he just gets better with time

But the fact is that he doesn't seem to be able to sing those quick techniqal soulful runs he did in songs like "A fool for you", "All I do is think of you" and "Whos lovin you" anymore. (I am not talking about him singing in a higher key as a child.)

I make a distinction between singing groups and bands, so....
If we're talking singing groups, I'd have to go with the Isley Brothers as my faves. Honorable mention goes to Enchantment, Ojays, Chi-Lites, Dramatics, Ltd and Jackson Five/Jacksons. If we're talking bands, My favorite, hands down is WAR, followed by P-funk, Gap Band, Ohio Players and honorable mention to Mint Condition. That's just for starters! Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Somebody like me who makes a distinction between "band" and "group." In my head, "band" means plays instruments, and a "group" strictly sings. I don't know where the notion ever came from, but that's the way I've always differentiated the two. That's why the term "boy band" always seemed a misnomer to me.
