Favorite Supremes song

If you had to pick just one.

Mine's "Love Child": A true epic classic. Even if it's really just Diana Ross in the studio with session background singers, it's under the "Diana Ross and the Supremes" name and that's what counts.

Pick yours ('70s Supremes songs, like "Stoned Love", "Up The Ladder To The Roof", "Nathan Jones", etc. are allowed, too).

Reflections. It's got a trippy vibe to it, but it's a beautiful number. I Hear a Symphony comes in a close second.

Impossible to pick. It would probably be I Hear a Symphony, although I do love the groove on My World Is Empty Without You

I love Diana's low register in "Reflections": "In the mirror of my mind...". "I Hear A Symphony" is terrific, too.

"Love Is Here And Now You're Gone" is MY close second. So gorgeous and underrated. Holland-Dozier-Holland even said that was their favorite Supremes composition.

EDIT: "THROUGH the mirror of my mind", sorry. lol

I also love Someday We'll Be Together (ok, I love all their shit, but whatever lol). The vocal and the instrumentation are just fucking sublime.

In the underrated category: Loving You Is Better Than Ever. Gorgeous track from the Cream Of The Crop album. The strings are beautiful.

Yeah, it is near impossible to pick one. I like their sound from the late 60s best. Early hits like Where Did Our Love Go, Baby Love and Stop! In the Name of Love are all great, but I like the expansion of their sound in later hits. I'm listening to My World Is Empty Without You right now. I love the sax on that in the chorus.

The intro was so sparse and different to what the "Motown sound" was at that point, and it remains very unique.

This Old Heart Of Mine (Is Weak For You) is the best version of that song, IMHO.

Reflections and Love Child.

As we know MJ seems to like Love Child too. No hold on, I don't mean it like that.

(Sing) I'll always love you I'll always love you hoo hoo Say Say Say hoo hoo hoo.

He says he got his ooh's from Diana Ross. Even on some J5 records he does it. Luther and Donna Summer both did great versions of Reflections too.

Even though it's post Diana "Stoned Love" is kewl too.
