another great janet vid dancing wise was "doesn't really matter". The whole tilt thing was cool, as were the moves in general. Not too nsync like, so they havn't dated badly.

It is her best video, and once I finally saw All That Jazz I understood its roots. I'm sure she was forthright with its influences, but I probably tuned it out at the time. I was sixteen. And as much as I loved the video for Straight Up, I was all when it beat Smooth Criminal for best choreography at the VMAs.

"straight up" beat "smooth criminal"? Whilst straight up looks like nothign special, the freestyle moves still look good today. Alot better then janets pleasure principal. "forever ur girl" had some hot tap dancing in it.

Straight up winning does not surprise me much, it was a original video at the time (i imagine) and it still is. Good song too. Love them dance moves in that video.
