I started with the '1' compilation from 2000 with 27 number ones.
And after that I decided to buy all the albums.

start with "1" and see how you like their commercial stuff...
then get ready for the big guns... the amazing stuff. Revolver Rubber Soul White Album (my alltime favorite 2cd set) Magical Mystery Sgt Pepper Abbey Road Anthology 2 and 3 (its a must) can't go wrong with that. . [Edited 12/19/05 17:35pm]

REVOLVER & RUBBER SOUL all the way!
George was my favorite though and ABBEY ROAD and WHITE ALBUM are my personal favorites....so much melody, diversity, and some of Harrison's most beautiful work with the band....plus 'Helter Skelter' & 'Happiness is A Warm Gun' are undeniably genius! peace Every minute of last night is on my face today....

Totally depends on what kind of music you like.
Please Please Me With the Beatles--50's influenced pop/rock & roll Hard Days Night--Classic Beatlemania, the Beatles' "Dirty Mind" Beatles for Sale Help Rubber Soul--Beatlemania that's becoming more ambitious/stony Revolver Sgt Pepper Magical Mystery Tour--Their most ambitious/psychedelic period White Album Let it Be--Getting back to the live rock, but more mature & modern sounding. Abbey Road--Their most polished rock album. Of course there's the #1's record--can't go wrong there. And I grew up with the Red & Blue compilations, but that's a bit more money. For albums I'd probably have to recommend: 1. Abbey Road 2. Sgt Pepper 3. The White Album Check this song out at:

It used to be really difficult for me to tell them apart, now it's so obvious. Check this song out at:

The Yellow Submarine Songtrack (from 1999) has a good mix of the mid to late stuff. Unlike other compilations, there's only two singles on there and the rest are album tracks. Plus it sounds fantastic because all the songs were remixed at the time of the movie's DVD release.
Don't confuse it with the Yellow Submarine Soundtrack though, as that only has six Beatles songs on it. The bass on Only A Northern Song hypnotises me everytime I listen to it.
