Too Legit: The MC Hammer Story

Hey,
I remember seeing the movie "Too Legit: The MC Hammer Story on VH-1" awhile back, And I was curious, what the orgers thought of it? For a TV movie - did any of you guys catch it? Like it? Love it? Hate it? To the Hammer fans - how accurate was it? Was Hammer really close with 2Pac? - Does anyone knows? Thanks in advance guys.

Yeah, I taped this one back in 2001 when VH1 first aired it. It was pretty good, but it definitely wasn't that accurate. The music wasn't really up to the standards either. It worked well as a drama for a rags to riches story than a made for television biopic.

First half is piss poor. Second half is better- this is by tv movie standards bytheway.

? if hammer was that close to hammer and suge (film shows boht of them on the set-or at hammers mansion, during the infamous "pumps and a bump" video), but 2pac wrote hammer a song and hammer recorded it apparantly?

We also can't forget that prior to VH1 airing this special that Hammer released an album called Active Duty which bombed big time. I don't even think Hammer was involved in making this tv special too much either.

I bought Active Duty king

If I remember right it was alright..it wasn't anything great but it wasn't as bad as I would have expected. I think MC Hammer quit making good music after his song "Pumps and a Bump" (typo). However, I did enjoy his song "Keep On," which was a remake of some older song I can't remember the name of right now.

I did catch that. He was awesome in 40 year old Virgin. Also, he used to do those commercials for MTV where he played the waiter with the bizzarre accent who explained popular songs to his customers for no apparent reason or provocation.

It was ok...a little cheesy. Vh1 is not known for their movies
Didn't VH1 do the Michael Jackson story?

I don't know... eek
I mean I'm a Michael Jackson diehard fan...and look:

It even makes me laugh a bit. LOL lol

However, I do respect the film-makers for trying to make a Michael Jackson movie. The job would be hard and they could have done a lot worse (IMO.)
They did the best with what they had. Michael should have given the movie his music. For the most part, it was a "Pro-Michael" movie. (It could have made him look a lot worse IMO.)

I think the person who did the best "acting job" of Michael Jackson was Tommy Davidson on In Living Color (When he would play him in the skits.) nod

I think he had Michael down!

Good Point..beyond Tommy Davidson that guy gets my vote also.

I love the scene in that film when he is talking to Barry Gordy about doing the Motown 25 performance. It is really an emotional scene (IMO) and I thought both actors in that scene did an awesome job.

Yeah,he did a damn good job of playing Michael, which were some HUGE shoes to fill as an actor, but he pulled it off. He could have TOTALLY had an amazing career like you said and it is just so sad to think he didn't.

I have "The Jacksons: An American Dream" on DVD though.

Yeah Jason Weaver as a kid was like Michael's clone in my book. Their voices are hard to tell apart (At least for me.)

Does anyone know..did they really film that movie at Havenhurst? (The Jackson's real life home.) It sure looks like it to me.
