Quick question about Michael Jackson

Did MJ write most of his own material?

Three on Off The Wall, four on Thriller then wrote or co-wrote everything thereafter, save a few songs.

He only wrote a couple songs on "Off the Wall," maybe three including "Don't Stop Till You Get Enough". He wrote about half the songs on "Thriller" inculding "Bille Jean" and Beat It." And he wrote almost all of the songs on "Bad." After that, I don't know and I don't care. He basically sucked in the 90s.

The 90s were MJ at his best, he basically wrote everything except Gone too Soon, You are Not Alone and Smile in this decade.

^^Well I don't know about "at his best" but MJ certainly wrote the lion's share of his 90s material.

You all forget the quality stuff he wrote for the Jacksons together with his brothers or alone!

Such as Can you feel it, Shake your body, Things you get for being polite, Blues away, Heartbreak Hotel and many more!

Heartbreak Hotel is one of the best penned MJ songs ever, that song is major. That's what you get for being polite is also my shit.

Yeah I kinda think MJ at his best would be like.. 1976-1984

He wrote hot shit for other artists too, like "Centipede" and "Muscles".

Yea, he did after Thriller I think.

But how can they when U can't help yourself?
The more they say they love U, the more U just wanna die'

Yes, Michael Jackson did write the lion's share of his hit singles. When I say "write", I don't mean "additional lyrics by" or "changed a verse".

Not a fan of Michael by a long shot, but along with Prince, Madonna, and Janet (to an extent), he's the last of the artists that made a name for themselves without the help of producers du'jour.

i think i know what he means, like without using 1000 producers on one album right? its like just them and one producer doing all the work or in the case of prince and michael (on alot of songs since 1991) doing it themselves. otherwise i've never heard of madonna or janet ever producing a song on there own.

Drunken org posting, lol I don't even 100% remember what I meant to say. I think it was along the lines of they don't run to the trendiest producer to get their stuff done (but since Dangerous, Michael has used producers of the moment) and people always level that criticism at Madonna.

shrug Sorry, can't explain myself here.
