"Poor taste" or do you mean variety...looking at your list you might just aswell have written:
Prince, anybody who Prince sounds like and anybody who sounds like Prince.

Im not one to slag off other people music tastes..everyman for himself but I dont think you can honestly call these people lists poor taste when you have such a narrow view of music yourself.

Have you even heard of bands like Stereolab, Laika, Friends of Ken?

doesn't sound like a joke to me. it's a list of good musician, but considering the poster's criticism of other people's taste, i don't think it's unfair to say that his/her list is a little lacking in variety. not saying it's a bad list, mind you...but glass houses/throwing stones, etc. wink

Nah I wasnt joking one bit - Take those bands I mentioned:

Stereolab - Edgy indie rock with a distinct trade-mark sound

Laika - hard to describe - trancy eelctro indie pop

Friends of Ken - Punk

Bowie - speaks for itself

Autechre - Trance/Techno

Marvin Gaye - You'd like him...he sounds like Prince

Thomas Dolby - nuts but his Astronauts and Heretics album beats teh shit out of any Prince album...and hes not even my fav artist.

If you look at everybodys list on here they have a variety of different tastes ranging from Bing to Sting and Hank to Frank...you cant call ALL music poor taste...it might not be your taste but, judging from the list you submitted as a cross-section of your taste, its all Prince-ish in one way or another.

Theres nothing wrong with that but I dont think you can criticise people for having a broader view when their music incorporates your tastes and then some.
