The The - The Beat(en) Generation

One of those songs like Dear God, the sentiment gets stronger and stronger, good song, but almost too depressing. If your love cannot be moved and positivity are good response songs to this for me.

Matt Johnson woot! and his Johnson woot! woot!

Kidding aside...I really like The The and Have dug their work. My favorite is DUSK. I really enjoyed Hanky Panky too, as I had not heard Hank Williams music before in any rendition except for there's a tear in my beer. I wish I had picked up more from them after that, but I never did. Although checking...there hasn't been that much since Hanky Panky

I remember really liking them when they came out, but I can't for the life of me remember any songs or what they sounded like. I get them confused with Soft Cell.

eek

Soft Cell? They had more in common with the Smiths that anything I think...Johnny Marr was part of The The. They didn't have that many songs that were big. The Beaten Generation, Slow Emotion Replay and I saw the light were the bigger hits. They were a band that didn't try to appeal to the masses..you'd be introduced to them or something and that's how they got a lot of their fans.

eek Johnny Marr? drool Well, I really believe that The The and Soft Cell came out right around the same time or came into my consciousness at the same time. I do remember hearing them and liking them a lot. confuse But the only way I would have been exposed is through MTV confuse (who introduced me to many great acts back in the day)

Whatever happened to Mstt Johnson/The The? He hasn't released an album of new material since 2000. Mind you, neither has D'Angelo ...
