The Torch has been passed And it's firmly in the hands of Anthony Hamilton. His new CD is AMAZING. It's clear he's taking R&B back to it's roots here. From the way the album cover is shot (and this feels like an album not a CD) all the way down to the grooves and 45 looking label on the disk itself. The album is just so warm and soulful it makes me smile just thinking about those songs. A song called "The Truth" is the best R&B/Soul song I've heard since Maxwell's Lifetime. No guest rappers, hip hop beats or gimmicks here. Just well written, produced and performed songs. This is much better than his first CD. AH is now where D'Angelo was after Brown Sugar. Let's see where he goes from here. Something tells me this guy is going to take us on a soulful trip for years to come. It's good to know there are those in the younger generation ready to carry on our music. Bringing Together Five Decades of R&B/Funk/Soul/Dance

I listened to a couple of tracks on AOL. I liked the music, and his voice really is an instrument...but its hard for me to get past that horrible drum machine that he using on the tracks. Sounds 2 dimensional to me, but maybe its my computer. I'm a fan of the 1st album, so i'll probably give this one another chance.

He's the lead vocalist on "Twisted",which is arguably the best track on Santana's latest CD

Well, Soullife was an old album that was fianlly released. But my favorite tracks on the new cd is Never Love Again, Pass Me By and Preacher's Daughter.

This cd is definitely better than the first one. But for some reason he hasn't completely locked me yet. I think I have a preference for his songs that don't represent his southern culture. Don't get me wrong.. I'm from the South too, but certain songs on this one (and the last album too) kinda make him seem contrived.
Maybe because he used to be a former backup singer for D'Angelo subconsciously I want him to perform material like D'Angelo. I've got a preference for songs like "Change Your World", "Kwah/Home" (from RH Factor) "I Tried", "Ain't Nobody Worryin'" and "I Know What Love's All About"
