Alison and Beth

A friend of mine sang "Alison" by Elvis Costello to me earlier today, and it reminded me of what a beautiful song this is. Anyone else like this song?

How about "Beth" from Kiss? One of the most beautiful songs ever written, in my opinion.

I love "Beth" by Kiss...I stumbled across it while trying to find a song with my name in it (my name is Bethann). "Beth" was the closest thing I could find. big grin It's a sweet song. No Use For a Name (a punkish band) covered it...their version, although they break into the 90210 theme at the end ( question ) is good as well.

Another good one! "With no loving in our souls and no money in our coats, you can't say we're satisfied, but Angie...Angie..you can't say we never tried."

How about "If You Leave Me Now" - Chicago Well, that's really not a favorite of mine, nor does it have just a name for the title...but the only one I could think of right now!

I like Costello's "Allison." Beth by Kiss is cornball. I haven't heard any of Chicago's 70s material that I didn't like.

What about Peter Frampton's "I'm In You"?

Supernova...I like a lot of Chicago's early music...25 or 6 to 4, Saturday In The Park...both very good. Peter Frampton..I'm sure I've heard that song but I can't think of how it goes.

I don't think I've heard that one. But what about the VII album? The jazzy suites they used to do, and their horn section was primo. Anybody remember "Wishing You Were Here"? The bloody Beach Boys on background vocals. Good stuff.

I just downloaded that song...I like it! I also read that it was originally about a girl named Alison, but since Elvis Costello already had a song about a girl named Alison, it was changed and is about the jazz pianist, Mose Allsion. I'm gonna check out some more...can you recommend an album of theirs?

Bien sûr, their most accessible album imo is Doolitle, maybe their masterpiece too, on this album there is a perfect pop song "here comes your man".
You'll tell me what you think about it?

Apparently they reformed earlier this year. I've listened to them since the late 80's and had no idea they had announced a comeback, until I found their website. Their music always seems to find a spot in my player, so it's nice to see they're still continuing. Hopefully the new album, supposedly due out later this year, won't be a disappointment.
