Damn. I have this!
Haven't listen to it in awhile but I use to dig it.
One of the band members(Itaal Shur: Piano, keyboards) co-wrote Maxwell's song Ascension (Don't Ever Wonder) From Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite, which is a Classic in my book. So yea, Groove Collective, unknown gem.

This is one of my favorite albums to go back to and put in rotation. It always sounds hot. Didn't know about the Maxwell connection.
Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

Very cool!
So you must know Chris aka Freekbass right? I think him and Itaal were good friends. I met him one time and that's when he told me about Itaal. It's back when Chris was with Shag, a real good funk band from Cincinatti. My good friend Jimmy Coleman was playing the drums for them at that time. 6 Degrees Right.

Small world indeed. So you Know Jimmy Coleman? We use to be in a band together here in good ol Fort Wayne, In.(insert sarcasm) Last I heard he was living in Philly. One of the best drummers I ever worked with. Also a great friend.
