Mogwai: Mr Beast

Got this today - absolutely phenomenal - even on first listen.

Think Happy Songs for Happy People with elements of Rock Action. I wouldn't say its quite as dark as CODY, but its certainly as noisy in parts. Hammering pianos (opener Auto Rock), to beautiful electronics and plaintive guitars (Team Handed) and dirty rocking classic Mogsters (Glasgow Mega-Snake), this is Mogwai right on the button.

I can't wait to hear this live - its going to boot, big time.

A really really beautiful album by one of the best bands around.

Sadly its not out until March 6.

I kind of lost interest of 'Rock Action'. It seemed like they were going through the motions a bit on that one. Im sure Id like it, but Im not in any real rush to get any new Mogwai releaes.

Mmm, I can see where you're coming from to an extent - the same can be applied to any post-rock bands, in that they have a unique style, but when the music is so beautiful and powerful its hard not to enjoy it.

Ratts in the Capital off the LP you aint got - Happy Songs for Happy People is worth the price alone - its a monster.

Similarly the new LP sounds very strong indeed.
