Shoot yourself in the ear for that. Seal has one of the best voices in the industry. He's one of the few vocalists that actually sounds BETTER live than on record.

Yeah...I remember thinking the very same thing when I saw him struggle and then murder, Queen's 'Who Wants To Live Forever' at Wembley Stadium in 1992. doh!

Whatever. I've seen Seal three times live and every show was impressive. Y'all full of shit with "Seal can't sing" shit. Seal has a better voice than Prince IMHO.

Some of you need to learn what "can't sing" really means since a lot of the artists named have careers for doing just that and have industry respect (i.e. Mariah, Xtina, Lauryn Hill (I guess nobody remembers when she sang in "Sister Act"), Celine Doin, etc. Mighty funny they got deals for "not singing", huh? By the so-called measurment listed, better add Joss Stone - she's a "bleater". I think she can sing but not according to the criteria of this so-called list. rolleyes

Seal is a great vocalist, but Joss Stone needs to get her cleft palate fixed. She's terrible.

Beyonce is a bleater. Can't stand her singing.

Jessica Simpson looks ugly when she sings. It's not needed, imo

Oh my gosh.

Hutchence had a REALLY great voice, to me! He made it look easy. I was just thinking about starting an INXS/MH appreciation thread...

lol

I kid you not.

Well, I'm not going to agree with you on Michael Hutchence. I think that he has a perfect "rock" voice. He was the Jagger of the '80's IMO.

As far as Bono is concerned, he doesn't have a "typical" voice, but listen to some of U2's '80's cuts like Pride in the Name of Love or New Year's Day. The man has always been able to BELT. During the late '90's, Bono intentionally killed his voice with cigarettes and booze. He wanted a raspier quality to give his singing some "weight". The man can still emote like a motherfucker. In fact, he's said that the only reason he can still hit those high notes is because he gets inside of those songs. He still believes those lyrics. Obviously we all have different tastes in singers, but Bono is my favorite voice ever, especially because he believes in what he sings. Bono's live delivery can bring a tear to my eye because of how true it is. I can hardly listen to the Pet Shop Boys sing "Where the Streets Have No Name" because their take on the song is so highly ironic. They were just parodying the song, instead of understanding it.

shrug Different strokes for different folks, right?

MICHAEL JACKSON

when he was a kid i think he may have been the most gifted child / teen of all time...but since BAD he sounds terrible to me...no long tones just quick staccato grunts and breaths and angry attitude and screaming...sounds like his nose operations have hindered his ability to breath correctly or somethin...just my opinion... neutral

Mary J. Blige boxed I love some of her stuff but... I'm sorry she can't sing.
Jennifer Lopez
Ashanti
George Clinton <- Funk God... but yall know he can't sing
Van Morrison <- good songs... but yall know he sounds like he's got cornbread stuck in his throat
Janet Jackson
Macy Gray <- Love her to death... but c'mon confused

Uh ... Mary J Blige. This has got to be at live performances.

That is so true. I saw Mary J on TV singing live a couple times (on the Tsunami Benefit, and on the Rock N roll Hall of Fame) and she was so out of tune it was painful

oh and OH MY GOD, i have to add this: i went to the movies to see narnia last weekend, and before the movie the muzak system played a new song by CAPTAIN AND TENILLE...and holy crap, has toni tennille's voice gone straight to hell...no detours, no stops, no alternate routes: straight to the hot place in a handbasket! disbelief

her vocals sounded WAY too husky, not to mention a little unhinged. she sounded like a drag queen trying to imitate tina turner. headache

it was quite possibly the worst recording of anything i've ever heard in my life. seriously. i mean it.

I would have said that about Mary J 8 years ago...But I think her voice has rounded out into a very soulful instrument...As far as Kelly, his voice ain't Sam Cooke (That's for damn sure), but even if he's a lazy ass bastard his voice is above average when he's singing the right material...I agree with JLO, Ashanti, and JJ (although she has what I call a very "light" voice which sounds decent on ballads)...I like Van Morrison's voice...much like a jazz/blues...As far as George Clinton's voice, it's the funk and nothing but the funk...

Nope. Seal's whack. Got Heidi Klum, but so did her hairdresser. The man can't sing. Face it. Bob Marley either. I know you don't like it, they're legends, they're music is classic, but guess what. That don't change the empirical fact that both of them sound like your drunk uncle Bobby when company comes over. Thanks.

i think seal has a great voice. it's just that, aside from his first album and a few songs on his second album, his material is watered down adult contemporary pap. that's not the fault of his voice - that's the fault of his pen (or whoever's pens...).
