Song Identity Help (apparently Pet Shop Boys cover)

A friend emailed me this today - - i'm not sure what song he is talking about. Any ideas?

"I heard a song at the gym today that was a Pet Shop Boys remake with samples from the Clash's "Rock the Casbah." Does anyone know what this song is named or who does it?"

Are you sure it's by the Pet Shop Boys? The only song I know that samples "Rock The Casbah" is Pussy 2000's "It's Gonna Be Alright".

nope, Will Smith also sampled it on "Will 2K"
Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

The only one I know is the one I mentioned. Don't think I know that Will Smith song. And I highly doubt the song the original post is asking about is by Will Smith. razz

Sextonseven is right, only the PSB covered that song too

"Sterling Void
PSB song remixed: It's Alright

It turns out that few if any people in this list are as mysterious as Sterling Void. It's virtually impossible to find biographical information about him/her/them. Pretty much all that's known—or at least as far as I've been able to dig up—is that he/she/they were a seminal figure in the development of house music, particularly of the "Chicago style." Although Sterling Void is responsible for a number of minor club hits, including "Runaway Girl" and "I Don't Wanna Go," no others would have nearly the impact of "It's Alright," which has been covered by a variety of artists—most notably, of course, the Pet Shop Boys. (As recently as 2001, however, the act Pussy 2000 re-covered it as "It's Gonna Be Alright," with samples from the Clash's "Rock the Casbah," turning it into a huge dance smash all over again.) At any rate, Neil and Chris remade Sterling Void's near-instant classic, and Sterling Void then turned around and remixed it for the Boys. "

There is a dance/pop cover version by the Solar Twins. It features in the excellent movie "Brokedown Palace", and it got it bit of airplay around the launch of the film.

Worth checking out!

feeling ill Can't stand the way they sing this song! I usually love the slightly nasal pitch to Neil's voice, but when he begins with the "I want to run", I really wanna run out of the room.
