Janet or Control?

Which one should I get? Her very first cd or Control, which I know is considered classic but what I want to know is which one has a more new waveish sound??

Dream Street is better for the New Wave(ish) sound.

Oh yeah, I have that one but it's all scratched up. I should get a new copy. So Control is not very new wavey huh?

I don't think so. Well you know it anyway I suppose. There are only 2 tracks that weren't singles, and they're both rubbish IMO.

Control

The only track I probably wouldn't be able to dig (had I not known it since 1986) is "He Doesn't Know I'm Alive".

"You Can Be Mine" is a kick-ass album track, and probably rocked more parties than some of her other singles.

Sure. She could've easily squeezed out 7 with that album.

I have scans of a summer, 1985 Essence issue where she's on the cover, talking about the baby rumors. lol

Janet - her best album

I think i'm sold on getting Control. It may not be new wave but it is 80's and that enough for me!

By the way, i have a bad joke to tell. Shouldn't have named the album Birth Control, after the baby rumors? smile

Here ya go! Sorry 'bout the watermarks, but the mag is rare and you can still read the article. I don't know how early she'll have to talk about the rumors before people understand that it really couldn't have been possible for her to have popped out a damn kid. lol

And dancerella, you *must* get Control biggrin
