Madonna-dumping-Mirwais appreciation thread

Future Lovers is easily the crappiest track on COaD. Really sounds like they did it in about 15 minutes. Bleech. The rest sounds sounds so much better by comparison.

My least favorite. It's so dissapointing that it comes after my favorite track, "Sorry". Mirwais, go bye bye! He was also on board for "SuperPop" but that doesn't redeam him.

It's many people's favorite or one of them. And because it it...I wantto like it more than I do, but i just can't get into that song. I now think it is now weaker than New York or Jump.

I feel as though Mirwais worked on the last song as THAT sounds like an AL songs... but then again it sounds like what AL should have sounded like.

He did Superpop? I like that song...though nit's m,ired in "thinking" lyrics, which isn't her strong suit and thus is the reason it was probablyu left off the album.

Has anyone heard Fighting spirit off the limited release?

As for Mirwais, i prefer his work with Madonna more than the new album. Not to say i don't like her new album, i just love his edginess, making Future Lovers easily my favorite track off the album.

"Future Lovers" is in my top 3. I love the work Mirwais has done with Madonna and I love his solo album.

Mirwais' biggest mistake was letting Madonna play guitar on her own album.

I think that Mirwais' work on Music was fine, but Madonna needed to work with a Patrick Leonard on the lyrics and melodies before she worked with Mirwais on production. There was a definite decline in tunefulness when the Music album dropped; lyrics also really suffered.

Yes she painstakingly strums each chord like she's performing surgery or something. Make you appreciate P's playing that much more.

i just figured she was a better guitar player since all he seems to do is pick a guitar up and make it sound good then just throw it like it was some kind of smelly dog or something. the way she furrows her brow deep into her face when she plays guitar tells me that something really special must be going on.

Don't sarcasm and Madonna go hand in hand? razz

Mostly what I was saying was a guitar album for Madonna was probabaly not a good thing esp with beats and her words vocorded over it. I'm not saying it was a bad album, as I liked it. I just think it would have made for a beautiful accoustic album. nod

I actually like their work on the Music album a lot. Future Lovers has one good hook, that "evidence of its brillance" bit. Beyond that, it goes on and on and on....And everytime she does that "I'm going to tell you about love," I keep thinking of the "Madonna Knows Best" film over at radaronline.com, and I can't keep from cracking up.

My friend almost regurgitated when I played him that cheezy spoken intro.

Madonna has never played anything but a tiny piano thingy on her collab with Prince and the cow bell on Holiday. Not a note on her other albums. Check the liner notes and various interviews.
