Re-invention had Madonna's worst setlist ever

that pathetic non-event slow version of 'Deeper and Deeper' and her worst song ever 'Hanky Panky'...also a 47 year old singing 'Papa Don't Preach' was just a joke. Let's hope the new tour has better songs..and she sees sense and doesnt charge suc greedy ticket prices...hasnt she enough money already ?

sad

The high prices just indicate how relevant she is. She can get away with charging big bucks and manage to sell out her tours. Not many acts can do that.

It's funny when people complain about her high prices and then say she's irrelevant at the same time.

I fully disagree. I was sooooo excited to hear four of my five favorite songs:

Like A Prayer
Burning up (!!!!!)
Deeper and Deeper
Music

if only she would have done Rain, Dress You Up, and Love Profusion. and anything else from Bedtime Stories.
I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

I think the setlist was cool.I was glad that she played seven songs from 'American Life'(most of the album),so that it wasn't your typical "Greatest Hits" tour. That would have been less exciting, imo.

Let me see your dream setlist for the rumored 2006 tour. What songs do you think she should perform?

"Borderline" was rehearsed for the 'Re-Invention' tour, but it didn't make the setlist."You'll See" was performed on a few of the early 'Drowned World' shows in 2001,but she later replaced it with "Gone".A wise move, since "Gone" is the superior song imo.

Let's see your dream setlist lol

I thought the set list fit where she was at that time in her career. American Life was about retrospection so it only made sense for her to bring back her old classics and give them new interpretations.

Exactly. My only complaint with the RIT setlist was the inclusion of "Music" and "Holiday".Great songs, but the versions performed on the tour were disappoining."Holiday" needs to be retired from future shows.I was pissed when she changed the lyrics to "Into The Groove".That's a no-no.

What'd she change 'em to?

I do have to agree with Peppekin's comment about Deeper and Deeper, though. That version annoyed me so much. I think I would have felt differently if I had ever seen that song live before. Since I hadn't I was expecting to dance my ass off to it. And that just wasn't possible with the version she played.

she sang the same stupid lyrics that are found on the "Into The Hollywood Groove" version...

disbelief my friend was like "what the fuck?" lol

To me,the jazzy, slow version of "Deeper and Deeper" was a highlight.I guess I'm in the minority, lol.

I dont know why the fuck she changed the lyrics, it made no sense to me. That said it didnt detract that much from the performance. I thought the bagpiper intro / element was inspired and the whole performance was brimming with the kind of exuberance that made the original recording.

I kind of agree about Holiday & Music, they didnt do too much for me, but id be disappointed if she didnt perform Holiday. You need classics like this. Like Elton John performs Your Song at every show he does, Maddy should do this one. Someone should tell her though that there is nothing wrong in performing the song as it was originally recorded.

What i missed about the reinvention tour was a proper encore (and the Drowned World tour too). Blond Ambition and The Girlie Show had brilliant encores, and her last 2 tours had none. I hope with the next show she does a really explosive one.

You know, I was honestly shocked by how many people DID like it. I still don't know what was going on with me at that show as I was honestly quite disappointed by it. Coming here after my experience and reading everyone's (mostly) glowing reviews made me wonder if I was just in a bad place that day. I'm still glad I went but it just wasn't 'all that' for me...

the show was off...ive said it before and i'll say it again.ive gone to shows where i didnt care at all for the artist (chris isaak comes to mind) but walked away from the show wondering, "what the f*@!?"..here, im a fan of madges but that show was just off...and the guitar set killed it all for me....

dont get me wrong..there were some great moments but this show was no where near the artistic peaks of blond ambition and girlie show.....

i hope this concert is much better.

Boderline was on the Virgin tour but didn't make it on the video for the concert and You'll See was only performed in the US at NY and Atlanta. Madonna had orginally planned on alternating the it with Gone but was unable to because she had some throat problems on the tour. Gone was performed everywhere else on the Drowned World Tour.
