New JANET cd almost ready, says Jam

Songwriting team Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis are finishing up production on Janet Jackson's eight studio album. Without revealing too much, Jimmy Jam promises that the as-yet-untitled Virgin set will boast a small tribute to Jackson's 1986 effort, "Control" (A&M).

"It's a milestone year for us and for the collaboration," Jam tells Billboard.com. "It'll be 20 years since the release of 'Control,' so there's definitely a little bit of a nod to that on the new album."

As previously reported, some of the album was recorded at Jackson boyfriend Jermaine Dupri's studio. Dupri, who is president of Virgin Urban, is also executive producer of the album.

"Hopefully in January we'll be done with her project," says Jam. "We're trying to have a single around February and the album around April or May. It's up to the record company, but we'll definitely have it done by then. We're real close."

I wonder what Jam means when he says there will be a nod to 'Control'.

Does that mean a sample borrowed from a song on that album?

If so, Janet already covered that smartly on "All For You" when she sampled "The Pleasure Principle" during the song's breakdown.

Or does he mean the songs will have lots of attitude?

Anyways, who the f*ck cares!?!

New Janet!! Bring it on!! I can't wait for this...

You know what they are really waiting for....Janet to get back into the gym so everyone can fawn over how hot she still is. Not to say she doesn't look good kind of thick, but I can't imagine her doing the dance routines.

As for the album having a nod to "Control", it might be a bit eighties sounding, which isn't bad. It's not like "Confessions..." isn't a nod to the eighties and so far, it's probably my favorite album of the year.

Oh my gosh, I can't wait for Janet to come back better than ever! Personally, I'm hoping for a lot more songs along the lines of "SloLove" and "All Nite (Don't Stop)".

damita jo was just good enough to make me still a fan. but the only song i LOVED on it was a b side. (Put Your Hands On)

i hope it is part control, part velvet rope, part something new.

and i hope she tours and takes out the whimsical medley and the striptease and bringing the guy onstage and the encore with blue jeans.
I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

"Put Your Hands On" IS great! It definitely should have been on the album.

thats three..and does "give me a beat" really count?

now each album has about fourty tracks...32 of them tagged as intro, prelude, pre-note, interlude, interlude 2, seque, storm extralude, moan prelude, moan epiloge, conclusion, revisit, hidden track prelude, skip, skip, skip, skip, closing moans w/ storm exit.

Janet experts, have Jimmy and Terry produced every album since Control?, or just some tracks on some albums?

All since Control except for Damita Jo which they did about half of.

You know your Janet. If this album contains no storms, it's already her best! I don't even have to hear it....just tell me there are no storms on it!

hmmm

This is a REAL make-it or break-it album for me. All For You disappointed me and Damita Jo outright annoyed me. If this album doesn't do something to rock my world, my days of being a Jante fan will be over.

Hopefully that means we get some 80's era Jam/Lewis funk production and not their generic production of late. I cannot tell their production from anyone else's these days.

Mariah came back, Madonna came back (yes, they are at the very least sales comebacks) and I have no doubts about Janet....her album could be the biggest hit of them all. I don't doubt it for a second.
