Same here.I love the 80s Kool and The Gang.People always insist that they "sold out" during this period (whatever that means),but I enjoy songs like "Get Down On It","Misled","Joanna","Tonight" and most of their other 80s singles.James "JT" Taylor was their best lead singer. People probaly said that because of their croosover in pop. Joanna , Misled sould more like a pop song than r&b. But the style of music especially r&b changed in the 80s. Funk music was almost dead in the 80s.

That being said, I still prefer their pre-JT era. The Cafe Wha thing has me really interested in getting this DVD now. Thanks for the info. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

I'm one of those snobs that prefers their pre-JT albums. Get Down on It is a good tune, and probably the best of their 80s work. I can like most of their big hits. The only one I can't stomach is Celebration. That shit is unlistenable.
