I think the problem was that she found Jesus and got boring (they do not go hand in hand, but for her they did). Which is not to say she didn't record some great material, but the fire in her vocals was gone. It's as if she was consciously trying to NOT be sexy anymore. She's gotten better in recent years, as she's begun to embrace her past again. Yeah,I admit,I prefer the slutty 70s Donna to the more conservative 80s Donna

She never did put in a performance like "Can't We Just Sit Down (And Talk It Over)" after 1979, though. She didn't have to be slutty, but she had to have passion, I think.

Yeah, it was pretty obvious that she didn't know which direction to go. But I was all kinds of excited in 1994 (can't recall the exact year offhand) when I heard Melody of Love. Was happy to hear a good dance tune from her.

"Melody Of Love" (from 1994) was a nice return to form after the less-than-spectacular 'Mistaken Identity' album from 1991.What's funny is that she spent much of the 80s trying to abandon dance music and position herself as a "pop artist".By the late 80s,she came to her senses and began identifying herself as a "dance music artist" with songs like "This Time I Know It's For Real".It took her awhile, but she finally figured out that dance music fans are her most loyal audience.

Aren't both "I Got Your Love" and "You're So Beautiful" from "Angel"...although, we have yet to see hear the real verison of "Beautiful" on a disc yet. I think she owns "Angel". As far as making a better album...listen to all of her one offs! She has a great album in her, no doubt. Then again, all of her one offs are probably one offs for a reason....I don't think I could imagine an album filled with nearly all single worthy tracks like that (I would add songs like "Any Way At All" and "That's the Way" to the mix....not necssarily her contributions to Christian compilations, which I'm not familar with). Hey, let's figure out how many mew studio songs Donna has done since "Mistaken" (excluding the "Christmas Spirit" album). "Carry On" "Any Way At All" "Melody of Love" "Wherever There Is Love" "Ordinary Miracle" (sadly, never appeared anywhere besides that bad movie) "Dream Catcher" "Love Is The Healer" "I Will Go With You" "Power Of Love" "You're So Beauitful" "Dreams A Lot Theme" "That's The Way" "Power Of Love" "I Got Your Love" "Are You Brave" (from the "Mister Rogers Tribute"...I'm not hardcore enough to buy this but on Amazon, they are selling it with the remasterd "Christmas Spirit", now titled "20th Century...."). I'm sure I'm missing a bunch, too. David, help me out. A few of those songs,I've never heard. There are a few others that could be added to the list: "La Vie En Rose"---she recorded a cover version of this Grace Jones classic, sometime around 93 or 94.I've never heard it though. "My Life"---it appears on the 'Live And More Encore' CD "I Don't Wanna Work That Hard"---another rare track that appears on the 'Live and More Encore' DVD,but not the CD. any others? I did forget the songs from her LAME special. Which ones haven't you heard? The only one I haven't heard is the Mister Rogers song. " "Ordinary Miracle" was from some unoffical sequel to "Dirty Dancing"...not the recent one. This movie was made in the early to mid ninties. Never really sat through it and I'm not sure if it ever got comerically released but it appeared on either the "We" movie channel, which I used to get or something like that (maybe "Oxygen", which I also used to get). The only thing I rememer is that the song plays at the end credits. It actually begins while the movie is still playing and there is dialogue, so it's hard to hear the very start. Anyway, I had and maybe still do have two different MP3s of this, probably from the less than legal Napster days. It was not offical. One was taken directly from the movie, and one might have been an offical mix. This was never released commerically, sadly. I figured you would know the history of this track...unless you already do.

What's the point of having Donna sing a song if you're not going to showcase her vocals? I swear the vocals could have been by ANYONE considering how many filters they went through before the reached the final mix. There are great vocals in there, but yes, every mix hides them. She actually co-wrote the song.

I'll look for it this weekend at Tower Records but somehow,I doubt that I will find it I wish Donna would just release a full album!! I'm tired of getting a song here,a song there.I want a full,complete,16-track album.

She didn't even make that promise this year. . Then again, that could mean it will be a total shock, but I'm doubting it.
