Yes,Yes and Yes. He is one of the best new discoveries I've heard of in many years, his music is so genuine and touching, plus he's definitely a guitar virtuoso, technically sound and note perfect. I had the fortune of seeing him in a performance earlier this year and was so impressed, he's friendly and very good with audience interaction. When the chance comes around again, I'm for sure buying a ticket to hear him .

He's okay.

He's on the new Herbie Hancock album singing his rendition of Stevie Wonder's "I Just Called To Say I Love You", in which Steve shows up to play the harmonica. I didn't really dig it...

He has other ties to Stevie, which I can't remember right now, but mostly because I'm just jealous that he knows Stevie at all! hmph!

I ADORE Raul Midon.

I didn't even know he was famous now until I saw another post on this cd a few months back. About 10 years ago I used to go see Raul on the regular in Miami Beach at small nightclubs clubs like Jazzid, or the Van Dyke. His wife and (then) manager was a crony of my ex because they went to UofM together. I remember her as being very kind, and quite visionary for her husband's career working the Miami music scene at every angle, sometimes with Raul even taking gigs as a sideman with Shakira, when she was soley a South-American rock artist then. So he'd be outta town for a while, but then he'd always be back, packin' 'em in like Sardines in these tiny clubs---to see him live with a simple 3 piece combo was nothing less than a revelation---I would take people to his shows and they would be so overwhelmed afterwards, sometimes damned near tears-I took one friend to meet him after a gig once. It was a tiny space so you could walk right up to him because chances were he was only 15 feet in front of you to begin with. She was so overcome by the "experience" of his performance, my friend, a very dramatic theatre type and one of the biggest motormouths in the Universe, for the first and only time I've known her was SPEECHLESS on what to say. His shows could really affect you like that---

Oddly enough, I like his cd, but I'm not head over heels ga-ga for it. I am psyched that he got enough props once he left Miami to get ARIF MARDIN to produce it, I really almost fell outta my seat when I read that. But as for not being ga-ga about the recording, it's probably because once one gets into the "game" , you lose a little bit of that ability to convey alot of the power and virtuosity of your talent in the studio, compared to what you can deliver in live performance...I would say that anyone that has the chance, look up his site and see if there are any shows coming to your town. If there's one in sight-by all means GO!!!! You will discover, in a live setting, Midon's ability to be a competent player, an amusing stage presence, an INCREDIBLY sexy baladeer (as God is my witness I had a friend excuse herself from a show once because her body reacted to a Midon ballad as if "his voice tried to penetrate the downsatirs area..." and she needed a small "tissue" eek cool ) But all in all, it's worth going if you simply want to have a musical exprienece to leave you feeling warm, fuzzy, hopeful, inspired- essntially on an emotional high...

I was gonna post about him a couple of weeks a go, but it seems like everytime I post about a new artist on here either no one's heard of them yet or no one cares to respond. I've given up on the org in that sense. People are very content with saying "there's no more talented artists". Dude's guitar playing is nothing short of BRILLIANT (let's see Prince do what HE does) and that mouth trumpet thing he does is amazing! Dude is off the hook FOR A BLIND MAN. Some folks don't know that yet.
