kirk franklin Ok who lost respect for him and who added respect for him after watching him
on Oprah? I am on the bubble...i commend him for talking about his porn issue but at the same time i am kinda creeped out by it...

Kirk has always been about pushing the envelope. I applaud him for having the integrity to take on this issue. He's proof that everyone in the Church who ministers isn't a hypocrite. He's out there setting an example of accountability and accessibility that, again, pushes the envelope in the Christian/gospel world. More power to him.

i gained TONS of respect for him. first off, everybody is not ready to admit that the church is full of "dirty" hypocritical people let alone on tv, secondly i'm glad he realized that he was being hypocritical instead of takin that its natural stance Yesterday is dead...tomorrow hasnt arrived yet....i have just ONE day...
...And i'm gonna be groovy in it!

He had plenty of insightful things to say about addiction to sex and pornography. I just wish he coulda said more about his wife than "she's beautiful." That seemed to be all he could come up with when talking about what drew him to her.

why is it a shame? he's still human and I've heard Kirk over and over say that the church has to start coming clean with the crap because kids can see through it so good for him.

I have to commend him for coming clean. It takes a lot of guts for a person of his caliber to come out with something like that. Its goes to show people of his position makes mistakes. I hope he is cured.

He's a very popular gospel performer. Sold millions of albums, won Grammys and likes the porn. He's big on making gospel attractive to young music fans. In the mid-90s, he actually had a song that went "Go, Jesus, go, Jesus, go!!" And no, I'm not kidding. The Normal Whores Club

He still has some work to do,he'll be fine
Does anyone think he should have kept his mouth shut about it? Why didnt Oprah have any women addicted to porn on the show? "Nobody makes me bleed my own blood...NOBODY!"

For those of us who don't regularly watch Oprah, what exactly was said? I gather Kirk admitted that he likes the girly magazines, but what was the jist of the show? Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

He talked about how it almost destroyed his marriage, and that it's only been about 5 years since he's come to grips with his addiction. It started when he was about 9-years-old. I'd argue that his addiction was actually to sex, but he said it was porn that was his addiction. His main point was that he felt like he was being a hypocrite - singing about a Christian life and leading another.

Let He Who Is Without Sin Cast The First Stone. We All Have Sinned And Fallen Short Of The Glory Of God. Kirk Franklin could've kept quiet and let the whole world continue to think that he was perfect. Yet by admitting his problem on national t.v, He showing people that Christian people suffer the same temptations and vices that everyone else does. I have even more respect for him then I did before.

Is that even possible in The World of Oprah? "It is such a secret because I realize that the public person that I have become, if the story were ever revealed, the tabloids would exploit it and what a big issue it would be. But I was involved with a man in my twenties who introduced me to [cocaine]. ... I always felt that the drug itself was not the problem, but that I was addicted to the man." ~Oprah Winfrey Somehow a man would be at the root of the problem. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. Personally, I think it is not only brave of him, but it is downright responsible. Since he is a figure in a ministry position, he is leading by example. Plenty of people who look up to him may be dealing with the same problem, and it is his DUTY as a minister to show that he has been subject to the same temptations they have, and has managed to overcome them. Really, more Christians should be like this. Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

I remember it like I watched it yesterday. She cried some real crocodile tears as she admitted that, and then blamed somebody else for her drug use. So irresponsible of her! She has admitted that she's never seen a therapist - reason #1,294 why she should. She tends to preach to others on her show when they admit that they've gone through addiction or abuse or rape and not seen a therapist, yet she's done the very same thing.

I respect Oprah for becoming as successful as she has, but her preachiness(?) on the show makes it mostly unwatchable for me. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."
