70s mellow track of the day: "Deja Vu" by Dionne Warwick (1979)

"Deja Vu"
written by Anderson, music by Isaac Hayes

This is insane
all you did was say hello
speak my name
feeling your love
like a love I used to know, long ago
How can it be
we're a different space and time
come to me
feel like I'm home in a place I used to know
long ago

(chorus)
Deja Vu
could you be the dream that I once knew?
is it you?
Deja Vu
could you be the dream that might come true?
shining through
I keep remembering me,I keep remembering you
Deja Vu

This is divine
I've been waiting for so long
filling time
Looking for you
that's worth more than you could know
long ago
Come to me now
we don't have to dream of love
we know how
Somewhere before it's as if I loved you so
so long ago

(chorus)
Deja Vu
could you be the dream that I once knew?
is it you?
Deja Vu
could you be the dream that might come true?
shining through
I keep remembering me,I keep remembering you
Deja Vu

repeat chorus

This song scares me,in a good way lol the arrangement is so haunting and hypnotic.I always get lost in this song. When I hear it,I feel like I'm walking around on a lonely beach, staring up at the sky. It's a beautiful track.

I don`t like this song, but "in your eyes" does the same thing for me.

I haven`t heard "out of my hands" Too bad her 80s cds is so difficult to find. I have the 3cd-collection, legends though, i think it includes all the studio tracks from the "hot, live and otherwise" album. "It`s the falling in love" is also there, don`t know what album it`s originally on.

"It's The Falling In Love" (a remake of the MJ song) is from her 1980 album. Can't recall the title, but it contains the hit "Easy Love".I have it on vinyl somewhere.

Ask Dansa ("handclapsfingasnap") about this song, she loves it too lol

baby can't you see
you were really meant for me
darlin,you and me
could be living in ecstasy

but it's out of my hands (out of my hands)
baby, now it's up to you (up to you,up to you,up to you)
well it's out of my hands (out of my hands)
I really hope you will see it through
baby,it's just up to you

Dionne does disco.Who would have thought? lol

My parents WORE this record out when I was a kid. I remember Dionne had a HBO special/concert on when this LP came out and my parents made sure my brother and I stayed away from the TV that night. That was a good concert, Dionne could do no wrong back then.

As always, you've picked another great song David. I just bought a Dionne Warwick greatest hits compilation a few weeks ago strictly so I could get the songs "Deja Vu" and "I Know I'll Never Love This Way Again".

Me too biggrin lol . She played it a lot when I was 5 or 6. The last time I heard Deja Vu was a year or 2 ago and I loved it all over again. I need to get this CD.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
