In January 1977, while performing in Florida, Patti Smith fell from the stage and broke two vertebrae in her neck.

Keith Richards still fucks-up song intros and on the current tour even started playing the wrong song while the rest of the band launched into the correct one.

The Replacements were notorious for playing the occasional show completely plastered (especially early in their career). They toured as Tom Petty's opening act a few years before they broke-up and I went to the show specifically to see them. It was the last night of the tour and they were fucking wasted. They even started making-up songs on stage. lol

Has no one mentioned that chick (the poor man's Gwen Stefani) from the Black-eyed Peas who pissed herself on stage? ill

Not quite in the same league, I saw a Jon Spencer Blues Explosion show here a few years back and Jon made the mistake of making a positive comment about the Montreal show. Toronto and Montreal have an intense rivalry and this brought a chorus of boos. Jon turned the tide by saying, "Yeah, FUCK Montreal!". lol

Bruce Springsteen is notorious for being a strict bandleader (in fact, Prince has praised him in this regard), so he was mighty pissed when his drummer, Max Weinberg, missed a cue on the Born to Run tour. The Boss likes to be spontaneous on stage, so the band must watch him at all times. Max got distracted by a hot chick in the audience and got a dressing down from Bruce after the show. It never happened again. lol

Up until recently, I'd assumed he was the consumate professional on stage, but Mick, Ron and Charlie confirm he is notorious for butchering intros.

Not that it's one of my favorites, but remember when CeCe Deville from Poison started playing the wrong song intentionally on the VMAs? The rest of the band had no choice but to stop and go along with what he was doing.

No one's mentioned Prince spraining his ankle onstage?

Did anyone see that?

I saw him in Concord soon after and it was obvious he was in pain, still trying to get on top of the piano, but moving slow. The show was very short, as well, because Concord has a curfew & Larry & Chaka used up his time.

Not a traditional performance, but Ozzy Osbourne doing "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" at Wrigley Field in 2003.

Chip Caray: "All right, Chicago. Here comes Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne."

Ozzy: "All right, Chicago. I want to hear a real crazy crowd start singing.

"One. Two. Three.

"Let's go out to the ballgame. Let's go out to the bluhhhhhn.

"Take me a ee-yan eeya (humming) the field.

"I don't care if I ahh-uhn ack.

"Da da da da duh da da da eam. Duh ee, da da da da dahhh.

"For a fee, two, three strikes you're out at the old ballgame. Yeahhhhh."

falloff Personally, I love that moment. I think people overreacted to her gesture and didn't get that she was mimicking baseball behavior, not disrespecting the National Anthem. Either way, she's a terrible singer and she didn't try and hide it lol

Netflix it.

I'm not an expert on it but Vh1 aired the concert a few years ago. From what I remember it was a big concert in the late 60's with alot of acts that went to it. The Hells angels were hired as guards (good call). So you got hippies and bikers. Early on during the day a hells angels was threatening to beat up one of the members of Jefferson Airlpane. So as you watch the concert there is a black guy wearing a green jacket and a funky hat on the left hand side who was killed. The vh1 special I think was called gimme shelter. At the end of the gimme shelter concert you see a guy editing the film and shows a young mick jagger the killing in the crowd, Mick was upset of course. Hope that helps.

ur talkin about altamont right? is there an official release of this?

Seriously, who thought she'd do a good job? I totally agree, spitting & crotch grabbing is baseball, and therefore, American.

I desperately want to see something I've been told about.

Apparently one time Iggy Pop did a stage-dive and just landed flat on his face when no-one caught him.

Not half as bad as Amsterdam in 1996 when he walked on stage with a huge erection. Or of course the fall on the Destiny tour when he broke his nose.
