George Michael "addicted" to cannabis ? Just heard about it on the radio...I knew he´s been smoking weed for years, he said he was even high while shooting the video for Fastlove but I didn´t know that he´s seriously addicted to smoking weed.
As far as I know the addiction is more psychological than physical, unlike cigarettes or alcohol, but still... I didn´t even know that he considered it a problem. They said he started smoking it around 30 in order to cope with the grief about the loss of his friend back then. Has anybody heard about this from the horse´s mouth ? " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I've heard he even employs someone to skin-up for him.
I doubt it's true but it's a cool story.

I doubt it's true but it's a cool story. So that's what you do for a living? George Michael has gone on record about this a few times. Apparently, he was high as a kite during the 'Older' sessions. And then there was 'That Photo' from about 18 months ago. You seen it? The one where's he's driving his car about 2am, looking I'm think he was going to an all-night garage or something. Even the newspaper said he must be having the munchies.

Even the newspaper said he must be having the munchies. I know he´s admitted it several times but he never said anything negative about it until now, on the contrary, he always sounded like he´s advocating cannabis use.Now he sounds like a victim, really. Yes, I remember that photo...I couldn´t recognize him when I saw it...he looked more old than stoned. And a bit bloated. Anyway, he´s a cool songwriter and I think it´s sad that he´s become so depressed..but I never knew it had to do with smoking weed. I couldn´t find anything on Google, that´s why I thought maybe some of the George Michael fans in here could enlighten me a bit. Older was a nice album, but a bit too depressing for me.And I really liked his MTV Unplugged performance. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! George Michael is addicted to MANnabis! Weed isn't like cocaine or meth. Just makes you lazy and un-motivated....not a real threat..

Yep. Stoners tend to smoke all day long, so I'm sure he is stoned on video shoots, recording sessions, while he writes. You get to the point where it hardly affects you anymore. The only effect it seems to have is that it takes years to complete an album! But it can be pretty addictive. Even if it's only psychological, when you smoke before you do everything, then you depend on it in order to do anything (particularly being happy!). Check this song out at:

This is something that totally puts me off George Michael - how he flaunts his cannabis use.
I don't understand how someone so famous can talk about how much he smokes pot, with no kind of repercussions (police or media). I know there are 'bigger fish to fry', but when someone so famous goes on record for this, I think it shouldn't just be accepted by everyone so easily. (And I'm saying all this as a huge fan of his music)

I don't know how popular George Michael is in the UK, but in America he's almost a non-entity. He needs all the publicity he can get. Just about all musicians use marijuana...I wish it weren't true, but that's how it is..

Funny, his music's never been very stoney. Check this song out at:

(And I'm saying all this as a huge fan of his music) I like his music and I don´t have a problem with him or with cannabis BUT, and I´m writing this in response to your post above, I don´t think he´s really flaunting or playing it down anymore, and that was my original question : What´s wrong with George that he´s criticizing it just now ? Did it take him years to realize cannabis isn´t good for him, or has he been ignoring the side effects up to now ? I mean he seems to be planning his marriage and therefore should be pretty happy but instead he comes across as someone who´s depressed and who finally realizes that maybe all that weed wasn´t really good for him. Then again, he also said that it helped him to cope with all the pain. Why his critical stance all of a sudden ? " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I don't know what interview you are referring to, but yeah, he's been a stoner for years. In fact, one of the tracks on Older, you can hear him take a hit as the song begins (I didn't know that's what it was until I read an interview with George where he talked about it).
Oh, and the same interview, the reporter did state that he had someone there rolling his joints for him! Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

Oh, and the same interview, the reporter did state that he had someone there rolling his joints for him! I was referring to some radio blurb I heard yesterday....supposedly George Michael, a long time weed afficionado, seems to regret his heavy cannabis use these days, and I was wondering what made him change his mind about it. The radio guys said that this info was taken from an interview in the UK, maybe it hasn´t been published yet, I don´t know...we´ll see in the next couple of days. Up to now he´s been far from critical about it, so that´s why I was a bit surprised. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! Christ, just listen to his music. He is so laid back now its obvious he's stoned. No suprise "Freeek" was recorded clean. It has edge to it.
The guy needs to give up the weed. Its killing his ability to deliver killer tracks. .

Do you think that there´s a correlation ? Then again, Bob Marley was very prolific and a lot of potheads in Rap are also very prolific. How do you know Freeek was recorded clean ? Oh, and the same interview, the reporter did state that he had someone there rolling his joints for him! I think it's just after Spinning the Wheel, which is weird, because it's sort of an update of Monkey. It gives off the same anti-drug vibe, IMO. Maybe I'm just misreading the song, though. can ya post the pic please? Sorry - you overestimate my technical prowess. I'm crap at these things. And I wouldn't know where to find it. Hopefully someone else can post it for you. But as KoolEaze says - it ain't pretty. Be warned!

Spinning The Wheel is an anti-promiscuity song of sorts, which is rather hypocritical of him if you think about it.
